I'll just highlight what I've tried to do

Background info/aims

- create rosters where overalls aren't ridiculously distorted by 'fktendency/discipline' (propensity to not give away frees) ratings. Of course the duckwoods get a few more but really I don't think there's much of a much with free kicks anyway. An upgrade from 50-90 would take a players OVR up by 3-5 pts which is just ridiculous, going from averaging one to 1.8 free kicks a game doesn't make you a 4% better player. I also think it's relative to each other anyway so the ratings for that not being so high really shouldn't effect fk distribution. Most players should be between 50-65 for those two. Same with leadership, a few will be above for that though

- try and stop the 'key defenders getting 30 possession game' annoyance. I believe 'crumbs' and 'clearances' are the cause of this so you'll see on all non midfielders they'll be rather low. I've also lowered them for forwards as I reckon forwards with remotely decent crumbs well overperform. Had Ballantyne (46 crumbs) kick 50 goals in 8 trials at one stage and when I lowered it that just stopped, for example. If you see key position players getting too much of the ball, let me know which ones. Goal Sense made some players overpowered and I'm pretty sure even without it being high forwards can score hence most players have a goal sense of between 50-65. If it were higher it'd be very distorting

- other things I've hopefully added is a clear distinction between offensive (i.e. birchall/suckling) and defensive (shutdown) defenders. Likewise forwards (DeBoer/Armfield/Sinclair etc.) with defensive/offensive natures. There are definitely some good taggers in there who'll have an effect.

Things I can't control

- the away team will always dominate the hitouts in user controlled games. I don't even know why. It's annoying
- some players will overperform even by their own standards. It's hopefully rare, but it'll happen; often when their 'defensive tightness' in game is set to 0/100 and their opponents is too
- some players will be tagged out of the game just too much. It's the drawback of having genuinely effective taggers; sometimes they're just too effective
- the overall rating not being reflective of a players ability. Versatility is far more valued than skill in it, someone like Jared Brennan will have a high overall despite being meh as he'll have decent scores for all midfield, forward, defense and even ruck attributes. Players who can backup ruck will have a higher rating overall. This doesn't mean they're a better forward than the same bloke with no ruck ability and a lower overall as such. THIS IS IMPORTANT. DONT JUDGE THE OVERALL LIKE YOU WOULD IN MOST GAMES

Things I'd love to hear feedback on

- Players who you think I've completely over/underrated looking at the editor
- Players who perform over/under (by a lot) what their rating suggests
- Clearance players. I really don't pay attention tightly to who they are so the clearance ratings are at best, an educated guess. Feel free to point out some shit (relative to other players') clearance ratings
- Injury/Report tendencies. I gave 0 ****s about this in general.
- Anything else you think isn't working
- Bugs. I can't guarantee I can fix them as I've got the ability of a mouse at those things, but I'll give it a go

Things I don't want to hear

- These rosters suck! - Yes, they may suck - certainly. But I've put a lot of effort in them so at least be constructive. It's not that I've got an inferiority complex or anything I'm just not going to listen to mindless, offensive bollocks which happens more often than it should so all it'll result in is less motivation to keep these updated for those who do like it. If there's a problem/issue, I'm very open to hearing it. Just make sure it's constructive/from a good place.
- Where are GC/GWS? - they won't work with this. They're coming though. They'll be part of the full release with a tutorial on how to get them involved. You'll have to ditch 2 teams to get them in, but they'll be there. Just be patient.
- I can't use the fantasy redraft! - Let it be known that it doesn't work and I don't know how to fix it. I certainly am not going to put any time into it. If anyone can, then that'd be great - but don't expect it. If you want to use these rosters, you're going to have to deal with it
- When's the full release coming? - It'll come in time, nagging me certainly isn't going to motivate me to finish them and I certainly will be keeping people updated. It'll be at least a month away, I'd say.
- Will these be updated in 2014? - Perhaps. I follow the draft closely so I'll certainly be able to add the kids in before they play and then edit them again once we've got a better look. But I'll work out whether I've got time in December/January. I'm going to Europe so perhaps it'd be February if it were to happen. I won't forget, and I'll let you know if it will/won't closer to the time.
- Players x,y,z,a,b,c,d,e are all rubbish you need to make them better (when players x,y,z,a,b & c are all players from the club you support. If i suspect bias I'm certainly just going to ignore you :p

Cheers for all the help fellas. Hopefully you enjoy 'em. It's definitely made the process more enjoyable (I.e. from painful to awful)

thank you skippos you did a fantastic job

Just a couple of things I noticed straight away when simming a season with the Saints,

Tom Lee is about five years too old.

Jack Steven seems to struggle to rack up possessions, over a season he only averaged around 15 when in reality he averages more like 20-25.

N. Riewoldt doesn't seem to pick up anywhere near as many marks as he does in real life, though he's still pretty solid so that's more of a little nit-picky thing.

I'll give you some more feedback tomorrow, it's all great so far though! Thoroughly enjoying it. Awesome work! :thumbsu:

Yeah, I had to scale back players ages to make them fit in with the 2008 start or w/e.

Did it all using a little formula so must have ran it twice for Lee accidentally.

It's difficult to work with the marks given if I want a high mark count for those players I've got to ensure they're not all inside 50 either. I think I got it right enough with Tom Lynch of Adelaide though so I'll see what I can do.

RE: Steven. I think I've just underrated him. He certainly should be doing better.

This is beautiful work Skippos.

uncustom

Player type: Runs Hard

That's the problem. Every single bloke who spudded it up had that 'player type'

That was the problem with the original FFFX, players like Cotchin, Foley, Deledio, Selwood, Gibbs and a few others would average around 12 touches if they were on 'run hard' but around 40 or so when on 'goal attacking' or 'defensive'

If a player seems to be spudding up change his game style (right click his name on gameday) to goal attacking.

Skippos I think you should still make GWS and GC but place them in a seperate folder, then people can have different combination of 16 teams, they could have just GC and take out a team, or have both and take out two teams they don't want. The good thing is that you can rename the teams once you have added them.

I've noticed that we don't get many goal kicking mids, I had two who averaged a goal a game in the top 30 possession getters. Would be great if we can get more though.

Changing the decent mids' style to goal attacking should assist this shouldn't it uncustom?

I know that you can change a player's style to goal attacking in a game, but I don't remember if it was one of the player types.

Changing the style in game would help with the team your controlling, but don't forget about the other 15 teams which we wouldn't be able to change unless it was one of the player types.

The 2007-2011 lists had a lot of goal kicking mids, but some were overpowered as you would have Cameron Bruce or Pendlebury averaging 35 possessions and 2 goals a game. Of course the high possession issue in the 2013 lists, but we should get some mids who can kick up to 30 goals a season.

Changing the style in game would help with the team your controlling, but don't forget about the other 15 teams. The 2007-2011 lists had a lot of goal kicking mids, but some were overpowered as you saw Cameron Bruce or Pendlebury getting 900 possessions and 50 goals a season. Of course the high possession issue is fixed in the 2013 lists, but we should get some goal kickers who can kick up to 30 goals a season.

Yeah exactly. That's what I'd planned to do. I've already completed about 70% of both GC/GWS so they'll certainly be there and I'll just let people know to remove two folders from the list root file and rename GC/GWS to the teams they're replacing.

I haven't noticed it (But then again I've not played through this yet since i released it, haven't had time. I'll start one in a few days once I've made the corrections) - I noticed that a few mids who were on goal attacking (goal sneak in the editor) struggled to score. Perhaps upping their goal sense might do the trick; I'll look into it. I just don't want them to dominate when resting forward.

I'm certainly looking into it though; if I can't work it out I'll just see what you did in your lists to get the overpowered bug and do a moderated version of it.

They're much less than every other database

Everything in this is relative and proportional. The lower I go, the more significant gaps become and the bigger the difference in performance becomes. Also requires more work to nail it.

I think the mean/median overalls are just fine, it's who is what that might need to change.
