Footy Wars: Swans v Eagles is panning out to be like the Star Wars trilogy

Footy Wars!

Eagles = Empire
Swans = Rebellion

Reasoning? Well... it's quite obvious the eagles are pure evil, with seemingly invincible players on drugs... hence... the empire... headed by Darth Vader himself... Judd. Judd... like Darth Vader... has good in him (Being from Victoria)... but was manipulated to go to the dark side... the eagles. Ben Cousins is the evil emperor obviously... because we don't see him very much, and he's obviously the ones the players look up to more than Judd. Hence, the 'spiritual leader.'

The swans are just a bunch of good guys, struggling to overthrow the evil empire and free the galaxy (AFL) from the dark side... the galaxy's (AFL's) only hope.

2005 Grand Final = Episode IV - A New Hope

2006 Grand Final = Episode V - The Empire (Eagles) Strike Back

2007 Grand Final = Episode VI - The Return of the Jedi (Swans)


Hopefully, by the end of the season... Judd.. like Darth in the last movie... will see the error of his ways... and return to the good side of the force (ie. a Victorian team).

The question is... which players are Han solo, java the hut, Luke, etc etc. All the Star Wars geeks feel free to add names.

Let's just hope we're not living through the Phantom Menace. A season where much was expected but not much was delivered.

Although watching the way West Coast's midfield just keeps bringing through new young stars in the making I'd say 2007 could almost be seen as Attack of the Clones.
