2004 GF Sydney DF West Coast Whingers
Yeah, I know, I was agreeing with you.Toots Hibbert said:I've got a feeling you've misunderstood me. Sydney are entitled to feel connected to their history. West Coast, Adelaide and Freo are new startups. Their history commences from the year they started.
That's the single worst thing I've ever read.Cerpin Taxt said:Oh please, I'm not bitter, you can search my history of posts to confirm that if you wish. We could've won if we had a fraction of a forward-line. If the Bloods beat us in the next two I might feel bitter, but this is completely unrelated.
From my point of view, it's very lame. The name obviously bears significant meaning to some people, but 16 year olds on BigFooty... please.
Ants said:If they thought of them as the bloods, why not use the phrase before they won the GF? Its just jumping on the band wagon.

Nothing like a bit of heritage or tradition, you're really clutching at straws here.
Get over yourself, you bitter hate-filled bigot.
bresker said:I remember hearing that at the start of the 2005 season the Swans leadership group decided to start using the name Bloods because it was fearsome sounding and cool.
Cerpin Taxt said:If that's the case (and I do vaguely remember it now) I can understand quite a few things. But I've seen a good 5-10 accounts registered sometime between September and November with "blood" in the name. Perhaps two before that?
Oh well, perhaps it's just the ones that do post annoy me immensely. Feel free to delete this thread.Fred said:You couldn't be more wrong. This year, there have been a total of 4 registrations by Sydney supporters using 'blood' in their name.
One of those is banned (3 posts), two have never posted and the other is in this thread.
There is a push to make it our official nick.. much better than the Swans... Swans makes me think of gay balletdoppleganger said:when did calling them the bloods become fashionable again anyway???
south melbourne had been known as the swans from the mid 1930's
yeah but when did all of this bloods talk spring up??Bloodz said:There is a push to make it our official nick.. much better than the Swans... Swans makes me think of gay ballet
Bloods was very common right up to the move to Sydney, it was like the blues, the woods or the dons.. cant say what the Sydneysiders used once up theredoppleganger said:yeah but when did all of this bloods talk spring up??
was it just this year??
old souths fans seemed happy enough with swans for 50 odd years

It suits you to believe that. No denying that Fremantle (the district) has a rich football history and two clubs with a long tradition of success. But the Dockers are a new startup. Port Adelaide are not. Sydney were South Melbourne who relocated and therefore have a continuous history.wizard_9 said:Well thats a little hypocritical mate, if you can add Fremantle to that than you have to add Port. Fremantle football has as much if not more history as Port Adeladie does. Neither is relevant now and it shouldnt be associated with the AFL sides.
