WACA Ground, Perth 11:15am (Local Time) Wednesday October 8

The first Ford Ranger Cup game of the season sees last season’s wooden spooners New South Wales come up against Western Australia who finished fifth last season. From their meetings last season each side took a win with New South Wales claiming a bonus point from their victory. Both these sides will be looking to improve on last season’s results so a win from their first match would be a perfect start. New South Wales took eight matches last season to register a victory, so it will be particularly important for them to get some early momentum otherwise it could be another horrible season.

New South Wales will be missing Doug Bollinger and Simon Katich who are on tour with Australia in India so Dominic Thornley will captain them until Simon Katich returns. Western Australia will be welcoming Marcus North back after only playing three Ford Ranger Cup games last season due to injury. New South Wales have left out spinner Beau Casson opting to select Nathan Hauritz and Steve Smith as the spinning options. This promises to be a close game either way to start the Ford Ranger Cup for the 2008/09 season.

Western Australia XIV:
And I thought India naming 15 was bad. At least that was for 10 days of cricket

I see my favourite bit of javascript is ****ing with these threads too

Pretty pathetic batting lineup for the Blues, although the WA bowlers conceded 15/775 in a 2 day internal. NSW attack doesn't look great either - Bracken, Cameron then spinners, spuds and Thornely. Sort of game WA lose really.

I'm guessing that's a side from a warm up game. Cowan and Khawaja aren't in either side for Perth. Henriques, Casson and Cockley are only in the Shield team. Hauritz is only in the FRC. Mail's in the Shield. O'Keefe, Warner and Bird are in the FRC

NSW were sent in, they're 1/27 off 7. Hughes is the man out to Dorey, flailing at a very wide ball outside off stump and getting an edge behind. Poor shot, he was already looking fairly comfortable.
