David Bain (4th in the 1990 Brownlow Medal in a team that won the wooden spoon!)

Might be handy to actually tell us a bit about the players, rather than just reeling off random names. Some of them are perplexing...Mark Bayes (SM/Syd TOC), John Gastev (2 x B&F), Adam Simpson (300 games, B&F, captain, premiership player)...

As a youngster, I always thought Glenn 'Oysters' Kilpatrick would be the next champion Geelong midfielder, picking up where Couch and Hocking left off. He always seemed to get a truckload of it, but he just disappeared somewhere along the way. Paul Lynch was another from Geelong from that era. Anyone who remembers him playing will tell you that he had the ability to be a star, but his body betrayed him.

Ben Kinnear

50 average games over a lackluster 6 years at the pies from 1998 to 2004.

Highlight, 3 votes against the Doggies in mid 2001. 22 disposals, 7 HO (6 more than Josh Fraser in that game)

Me and my brother would cheer every time we heard his name on the team sheet.

Can't be bothered reading through the whole thread to see if anyone has mentioned Jason Heatley, but...

Jason Heatley.

Came pretty close to a Coleman medal and a premiership at the Saints in 97. His ouput steadily decreased for a few seasons and he got delisted, never to be heard from again.

Adrian McAdam - kicked 70 goals in his first season, (7 on debut) hung around for another season and then was gone 2 games into his 3rd year.

John Gastev - tried hard but had to play in a position where some of the greatest ever forwards roamed about.

These 2 get mentioned all the time. Gastev mainly for getting crunched by Ablett.

A couple that I vaguely remember but don't have a lot of details about:

Marcus Baldwin - key forward, kicked 3 goals on debut for Geelong - possibly all in the last quarter if memory serves correctly. Remember watching and thinking he could be a gun, but only played a few more games.

Julian Kirzner - 1 game for Essendon, popped up a few years later at North for a couple of games. Think he had a reputation as a bit of a goalkicker in the seconds.

Also, more recently Cameron Stokes from Hawthorn.
