Look its shit to sack a coach in this way, but he got the job without a proper process, just like the 4 before him did.

For the love of God please just do a proper process this time.

Not a huge fan of Truck but who (1) pulls the trigger to sack him and (2) hires his replacement?

Nobody I’d choose to make those decisions is the answer. We must clean house at Board and Exec level before we look at the footy department.

Sheedy, Wellman, Madden and Campbell must all go. We need a CEO who can run a footy department and we need a footy director who is super accomplished away from footy.

I am undecided re Barham. Trying to work out if he’s the solid everyman who might cut through the crap or Mr Magoo. Leaning to the latter but let’s see what happens.

Can’t think of too many occasions where the vast majority of supporters are pissed at the club for sacking the coach.

I’m not pissed. Ben will be fine, he’ll get his payout and he’ll be employable next year.

It’s the right decision. Now for Campbell and Dodoro

Don't follow Essendon that much so can't say if Rutten was the person to coach the Bombers. but regardless there is a certain amount of respect that should be allocated to your coach and supporters and they've given the poor guy none. Dead man walking letting him coach through weeks of agony.

Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but why do we seem to have the only playing group in the competition which isn't dedicated to team success and the 'ultimate prize'? the sentiment seems to be that the majority or at least key figures are only interested in putting in the minimum individual effort to get their paypacket and remain unaccountable. I just can't work out why, as a group, they aren't busting to be fit when the season starts, desperate to stop the other team during gameplay or showing any kind of leadership during challenging times - wouldn't they all be dreaming of excelling at this when they nominate for the draft? Really no idea how good or bad Truck is as a coach, but why is our playing group so ambivalent about doing what it takes to achieve team success and a better reputation??
How do you explain it spanning twenty years.

I feel like when the club is such a shot show probably impacts the players and standards.

Seems more players want out then want in. Be pretty draining when not getting coaching, support or list mgmt.

We don't hold any senior positions to high standards so for me no surprise playing group isn't being held to high standards.

We are mediocre so I'd be amazed if despite all this the playing group was elite

see the problem with this line of thought is this is it - they have their scapegoat, no other people will be found responsible and they all keep their positions, and can blame it on da coach
