They’ve just picked up Jed Anderson too so they obviously feel they’re light on experience

I actually think if they give Blakely a purely inside stoppage role, see ball get ball he might surprise a few.
He wasn't excelling in that the position for Peel. Just a pretty good WAFL mid: Hard to see how he'll start doing it in the AFL. Crowden was Peels best mid and he's a level down from your Hamish Brayshaw / Blaine Boekhorst / Jye Bolton types for mine.

If they can somehow get 2017 Blakely on the park good luck to them but to my eye he's moving like a 35 year old already. Just not AFL standard athleticism anymore.

A Will Brodie type role perhaps?

Indeed. I don’t think he has Brodie’s peripheral vision, game sense or hands but he’s shown at times he can play footy.

Perhaps his confidence was shot at Freo & a fresh start and last chance will bring out his best?

Maybe not but I like him so I’ll be hoping he succeeds.

Trigger warning ahead.

TLDR: we didn’t play or coach Lobb the way he wanted. Bevo will.

(Bevo who is notorious for pushing players into unfamiliar positions)

The chat that sealed Lobb's move, Logue's fear for ex-teammate
I just read this. Not enough care to be triggered, Rory Knobb just keeps putting the knife in because he has no brain. Anyone else would have thanked the club and moved on. Both he and Logue strike me as quite low IQ type people with their bumbling remarks and I wouldn't watch that dribble if you paid me, embarrassing stuff. As for Lobb, him and Young belong together, a match deliriously made in the dripping caverns of hell they think is heaven......

I'm glad they're gone to be honest, the club needs soldiers committed to the cause. Neither were prepared to be that...seeeeeeeyaaaaaaaaaaaa

Hmmm don't think Logue is in any way a dummy, high self opinion sure, but far from unintelligent.

RL: Morning Bevo
LB: Lobbster! Great to see you, you’ve been looking at those plans I sent through?
RL: Sure have Bevo, can’t wait to be played in my best position and really show this comp…
LB: That’s the spirit Lobbster. I can see it now, you sweeping back as an HBF, plucking those balls out of the air, selling some candy and handing it off to Bont…
RL: Sorry what?
LB: TO BONT!
RL: But I thought…
LB: Well who else is going to kick it up to Naughts, JUHdy & Big Darce?

Wasn't that the same reasoning for wanting to leave GWS? Ie. he "was being played out of position"?

He wanted to play forward more, Freo came to the party.
He wanted to be paid more, Freo came to the party.
He literally had his most successful year up forward of his career to date - "They didn't play me how I wanted to be played".

Sounds like a solid strawman to conceal his real reasoning to me.
