I'm dying here!!! How long to go till the Ashes??????? I'm DYING i tells YA! stupid off season

unfortuneatly looking good on paper doesnt cut the mustard. I just hope your right and they look good in practice. I dont really agree that spida man is really gonna add a whole heap to teh forward line. Swans were pretty inconsistent last year, played well in patches of games and in patches of weeks, including the GF. Forward line needs to fire more consistently.

The Swans won't start slowly next year. They would be burning after losing that GF.
I actually think Spider will play mainly as a forward next year & do most of the forward ruck work that Barry Hall has done well in the past.
He will be a key part of keeping our forward pressure on the oppostion defences.
Just wait & see. Spider will play an important role in a subtle change to the way we play. I expect a 30 goal return from him next year.
One thing about Roos is that he knows how to get the most out of a player as far as playing disciplined football is concerned.
Perhaps we haven't seen the absolute best of Everitt yet.
If he can stay on the field & stick to the bloods ethic, I believe we'll get 4 great years out of him.
Cheers!

Nick Davis needs to work on his consistency and hopefully Micky can keep up his accurarcy from the finals.. because the rest of the year it was horrible. If those two things happen then our forward line will be unstoppable.

I agree.

However.... 4 years out of Spida?! less than 4...

FB:...Crouch...Barry...CBolton
HB:...Malceski...LRT...Kennelly
CE:...Ablett...JBolton...Goodes
HF:...Davis..Hall..O'Keefe
FF:...Everitt...O'Loughlin...Schneider
RU:..Jolly...Kirk...Buchanan
BE:..McVeigh..Richards..Fosdike..Doyle

No doubt Dempster and Mathews will be forced in somewhere.

Look for ten-fifteen games from Vogels and Grundy, hopefully the same from Moore, Schmidt has to play more than five.

Doyle won't be there.

I would, especially seeing in that team he posted above he didn't fit in Ablett or Dempster. I just can't see there being a post for him.

Dempster is in the team actually.
But looking back at it, I'll move Kennelly back to the back flank (However much I do want him on a wing) and Ablett to where Kennelly was.
Drop Dempster to 23rd man.

On Doyle, last time Roos had three fit ruckman (Round one, 2005) he played all three - Doyle, Jolly and Ball. I can see the same happening with Spider.

Ah, right so he is. I think Mathews will have a spot at times, but i don't think he'll be able to hold a permanent position.

I guess there is a way in which Doyle can be in the team, but i can't see him holding the spot either.

Doyle wont be in the side sadly, his last few weeks were excellent but with Spida in he wont get his chance. I reckon Roosy will play Benny for the majority of the year, just a feeling, Roosy likes him. Dempster will be 23rd man and Doyley will be thereabouts but won't play unless a ruckman gets injured.

roosy WILL play 3 ruckman, its what he wants and believes in, so he'll do it.
Davis is the key forward question mark i reckon. we have a good forward line weven without him, but with him (on the proviso that he is menacing enough) we have a great one. I dont expect to see much of Grundy or Schmidt next year, maybe the year after. Top 4 should be on the cards again. oh yeah.

* what do people reckon about leo barry? hes defineatly past his best, still good, but starting to show some cracking around the edges.

Leo is getting older and subsequently slower, no doubt about it. He's still got another 2 years in him i'd say.

Couldn't agree more. I went and saw Australia versus Meh-rain...after the fourth stretcher came out, the 2007 AFL season couldn't come around soon enough!!!

And yes our forward line looks good on paper. Again. Fingers crossed. :thumbsu:

What struck me in the latter part of his season was his indecision when he had the ball. Now he was always a risk taker with the ball, but he seemed to continually run into dead ends late in the season. He also seemed totally unwilling to kick (admittedly he was always more a handballer than kick) and I wonder if he had a problem with his foot.
The other thing is the guy needs to have a break from the gorillas. Remember he started as a FP, so to earn AA as an undersized FB is a mighty effort.

Tell me about it. Those friggen 'Meh-rain' players fall and injure themselves so easily. Its ridiculous and i couldn't agree more. After the 1 billionth time the stretcher came out.... i want the 2007 season to come!

I dyyying!!! The tri-nations are keeping me entertained and the Pura Cup is keeing me abit occupied. And oh... something called School too.

Bring on 2007! I want to see our forwards in action!

yeah I agree, what was that about. Its very un-leo like. Although we had th e second best defence last year in terms of points against, I reckon 07 could be a surprise worry for us.

That's why it's really important that we draft a real FB. I can't see LRT being able to do the job.

Throwing it out there, what do you think about putting grundy or vogels at full back for a few games to see how they go, as unless we draft a big full back or CHB, defence could be an area for concern in the future.
