Given the success of the Bryan/Wood combination, could Josh move out onto the wing ala Matthew Richardson. I've never though he was suited to the ruck and this could be his oppurtunity to really have a big effect on the AFL

I would find it very hard to take Wood or Bryan out of the team. Fraser's best form has always been away from the ruck contests. If he is fit then he would be very valuable as a loose man/forward flank.

We need a Big man up forward taking marks and "Kicking goals". Fraser has proved he can do this, and do it well. Although Wood deserves to keep his spot on the last couple of weeks form, I think he needs to make way for Fraser and rotate Bear and Fraser through the ruck, with Bryan being number one ruckman and Fraser playing out of the square.

For those who arent sold on his overhead marking and conversion watch this:-

Fraser would get destroyed on a wing. Compared to wingmen, he is too slow, too unfit, too unagile, too poor below his knees, unable to win the contested ball.

Fraser is a ruckman / key forward ONLY!

Is it worth trying Fraser in a role at CHF like Cloke plays and move Travis into the square?

Given the success of Bryan and Wood??? Phwaoooar!! :D:D Workable at best, very lucky that they have blokes like Swan and O'Bree to cover their somewhat inexperienced ars*s, or have gone up against over the hill hacks like Spider Everitt. I like Bryan, his aggression is just what we need but Wood (who has massive potential) is not in Fraser's league yet and the coaching staff would be desperate to get a fit Fraser back into the ruck. Please cast your minds back to last years finals to see what Fraser means to this team, probably cost us a GF berth. Short memories!?

To their credit the 2 young blokes held their own yesterday (just), check the stats, basically even on hit outs but we won the clearances thanks to some good work by the small men. Will be a brittle combo against good center set ups (eg Carlton). Nothing against them but Fraser is still a cut above these 2, maybe talk to me when one of them has been best on ground for the Magpies in a GF, (like Fraser).

Would be great if Cloke could kick straight. IMO I'd rather Fraser have a shot from 35 out than Cloke.

You're right about that. On the other hand it would be nice to see Fraser take a contested mark.

If only we could merge the 2 players together. Well actually just give Cloke Fraser's kicking ability at goal.

Apparently in Mick's post match address yesterday he said that Fraser will be playing in the VFL for the next few weeks to get match practise but there has been instruction for him not to go anywhere near a ruck contest. His knee is still suspect for rucking however this way he can keep up his fitness plus get some confidence.

So he may be playing on a wing today.

Goodes plays on the wing, while Josh may not be quite as fast, a fit Fraser is faster than most anywhere near his size. He is also one of the best bigmen when it goes to the deck. Maybe you have watched the wrong guy.

It is also about the way that the opposition would have to match him up. Very difficult if you ask me.

Goodes is a midfielder, and has won 2 Brownlows playing there. He is 193 cms. Fraser is 202. Fraser is not faster than most near his size, and even if he was, he would be playing on the wing against people who aren't his size, and who are in fact among the fastest players in the league. He may be one of the best big men when it hits the deck, but he would be competing against smaller men, and they would kill him when it hits the deck. He is not a strong enough mark (ie Richo) to make it work.

I have not been watching the wrong guy.

You Josh Fraser fans really need to do better than provide highlights from 2002. He has had at least 4 poor seasons since, particularly last year. This constant rubbish that we would have won the PF last year if he had of played is becoming an annoying refrain. Just check out his form last year, it was terrible and he would not have won us the game.

It's 2008 now and the guy's body is stuffed. Unfortunately , that is the reality. When you have a thin framed player like that rucking from such a young age, it was bound to happen. So please no more 2002 videos to prove a point, they are irrelevant in 2008.

He won his first Brownlow playing as a ruckman, and played in the ruck for another season after that before constant posterior cruciate injuries forced him into the midfield.

But don't let the facts ruin a good story

Is it just me or does Josh look alot happier in that video, ie. the celebrating of goals, strong marks and confidence...

It almost seems that these days, he is uninterested in his footy. A bit of passion injected back into his game would be the best thing - not the wing.

Without Rocca up forward we need another tall down forward so josh should be plonked down there and keep him away from the ruck.
His job for the remainder of the season is to roam freely around the 50 ark and to help out travis and the small forwards.leave the ruck to Bryan and Wood.

i noticed that too mate

I can't say Cam Wood Seems to be the most passionate either lol.

Maybe we should just win the flag already that should do the trick.:D
