Even 800k a year for 3 years and then an agreement of about 400k after that would be very hard. He would be more suited to Richmond or Carlton with their lack of class defenders.
EFA

Pay it.

Seriously. Pay it. We have that money and he solves more issues than simply the backline. Frawley means we don't need to rely on Keefe anymore. Keefe simply becomes depth for the defence, or depth in general. We can also grrom Keefe for the forward/ruck role.

Having Frawley means a BETTER defence as well. It also means Reid stays forward permanently. I think he's totally worth it, but I'm sure I'm in the minority on that one.

If Thomas was being booed by the Carlton supporters, he must just about feel like the most hated person in AFL currently.

It's a no from me. I'd be targeting FA's who are utilities with good foot skills and a mercurial forward pocket/flanker to round out the list, assuming we are drafting Moore.

Moore is a better talent then Frawley anyway

My view is we should do whatever we can to get Frawly. He is a gun defender , can go forward, is ever reliable, doesn't really get injured. The fact he is at Melbourne is the reason he has flown under the radar and we are saying he is not worth 800k.
Ask yourself " how important has Harry Taylor been to Geelong"
Frawly would complete our defence adding class and freeing up Reid to go forward and potent it up with that 3rd tall.
Get that boy to the pies- offer him 4 years,!It would be a coup

What a stupid thing to say, Moore hasn't even been drafted yet and Frawley is a previous AA and been one of the better players in a shocking Melbourne side. Moore may have potential but let's not get too carried away, I'd take a proven performer any day.

In saying that Frawley is not worth 800k, read an article on afl.com.au today saying he doesn't know where the media came up with that figure. At 600-650k a year I would definitely consider him. Would arguably be our best defender, would allow more flexibility with Reid etc, is ultra reliable and makes us a better overall side. Is 25 and entering the prime of his career, would be negligent of us not to consider him if he wants out at years end!

Have you guys ever negotiated a price for anything before? Of course you are going to set a high value if you are selling (or a low value if you are buying). That's rule #1 for negotiations. If Frawley thinks he is worth about 600-650k a year, then floating a number of about 800k sounds about right. Then the clubs can bring it in from there. He isn't going to start his price off at 600-650k, as he will end up with ~500k or something.

I'd throw 600-700k his way if he wanted to play for us. Is a gun and will be even better in a successful team.

We've already got 4 AFL quality tall defenders. He'd probably play the Maxwell role for us - a role that Maxy and Scharenberg appear to have covered for the next few years - assuming that that's how the club look to use Scharenberg at the beginning of his career.

and get over his Foot Injury

I don't think anyone can argue with you, we have the money and he will make us a much better side. Pay it I say.

Rather Keep it for Our Stars. Beams will be in for a Huge Pay Rise Next Season

Frawley (4 years @ 650k)
Gibbs (4 years @ 600k)
Mundy (2 years @ 500k)

Which are the clubs priorities?

BTW, what were the media saying we were offering/paying Reid for his new contract?
