It's actually quite amazing the difference in player availability compared to the horror run of the last decade. Merriman is doing a fantastic job in that regard.

Weber copped most of the blame, which is probably fair, but there were also always rumours of Lyon making life difficult for the S&C staff to manage loads as they saw fit.

Interesting that Weber goes to the Glory and they apparently had an absolute nightmare run with injury shortly after, and Lyon goes to the Saints and they promptly lose half their players during the preseason. Perhaps we accidentally stumbled upon the worst possible pairing imaginable?

Webber had a Rugby back ground and their training ways are afar different to Aussie rules footballers.
I was always wary of his former resume.

He’d have had to have been a ****ing moron to apply the same benchmarks to AFL as rugby though. Not saying that he wasn’t but you’d think there would have been a class on it S&C school

Yeah but how did we continually get injuries yet our oldest player in Mundy barely missed a game through injury before retirement.

Was Mundy ability to play every week basically from his mid 30s due to luck, good management, preparation by individual.

The results speak for themselves.
Maybe he was or the club were ******* morons to keep him employed after so many injuries.
Did someone say Glory had the same problems!!!! Speak for themselves.

All three plus genes. Being a great bloke probably helped too.

ROUND 10 INJURY LIST
Josh Corbett (concussion) – test
Heath Chapman (hamstring) – 5-7 weeks
Matt Taberner (back) - TBA

Key forward Josh Corbett is a test to return to football this weekend, according to High Performance Manager Phil Merriman.

Corbett did not play at either AFL or WAFL level over the weekend after entering the concussion protocols following a head knock playing for Peel the week prior.

Meanwhile, Travis Colyer made a successful return via Peel at the weekend, featuring in the Thunder’s 89-point win over West Coast.

Colyer tallied 12 disposals, five marks, two tackles and kicked a goal on managed minutes in Mandurah on Saturday.

Merriman provided an update on Colyer in the Perth Radiological Clinic injury update ahead of Walyalup’s round 10 clash with Geelong.

"Trav has pulled up well, he had a successful return and hit his minutes,” Merriman said.

“He has got his usual sore spots after playing his first game of football in a number of weeks.”

Merriman also indicated that Heath Chapman (hamstring) and Matt Taberner (back) were progressing well in their rehabilitations.

“Both Heath and Matt have a significant strength focus in the gym at the moment and they have returned to running on-field,” Merriman said.

Is this the best injury list in the history of the Freo Dockers?

I think gaskin is the resident #1 Glory fan so maybe he can confirm, but I'm sure I heard they had a massive injury crisis after Weber went there.

Gaskin can confirm that this is correct.

This post rattled me. I read it as #1 Glory hole fan. 🫢

No comment......

Although, I have long been of the opinion that The Shed at NIB should be called The Glory Hole. I seem to be on an isolated island when it comes to that opinion.

Your injury can’t be mismanaged by Jason Webber if you don’t get injured in the first place.

A lot of the players we had on the injury list were constants. At stages we’ve had Bennell, Morabito, Sturt, Apeness, Uebergang, Pearce, Switta, Taberner, Sandilands, Hamling, Logue and Fyfe on the list barely playing. Under Webber these guys seemed to get injured then never play consistently ever again. There was also someone like Clarke that went from half decent back up to complete spud after a single injury.

Funnily enough around half that list of players is still in the AFL system and Taberner and maybe Fyfe are the only ones that haven’t played consistent footy in the last two years.

They were injured under Webbers riegn.
A totally bad employmernt by the club.

Weber doesn't even list Perth Glory on his Linkedin page. And it shows he was with us for almost 13 years. Holy cow. I was calling for him to be sacked for what seemed like an eternity before it actually happened. It was so obvious he was the problem. Now he is "self-employed".

IIRC he was sacked after 1 year so he probably doesn't want that humiliation on his resume.

Is there any detail re: brayshaws knee injury? I know he said he feels like its fully recovered now but does anyone know what the actual issue was? And if he does actually seem to be moving better last couple of weeks at all?

He said he's all pain free and set to dominate again so clearly you need to get him into your Supercoach team ASAP and stop worrying about it.

INJURY LIST: ROUND 11
Heath Chapman (hamstring) – 4-6 weeks
Matt Taberner (back) - TBA

Walyalup will have an almost full squad to pick from heading into their round 11 clash against Narrm on Saturday at the MCG after getting through their win against the Cats without injury.

It was Nat Fyfe’s first game since round one where he started in the 22, and High Performance Manager Phil Merriman said the forward/midfielder was subbed off in the third quarter as planned.

Fyfe was named as the sub in rounds eight and nine against Hawthorn and Sydney, and has played 32, 25 and 53 per cent game time in his past three appearances.

“Thankfully, a few things fell our way and we were able to sub Nathan out at the optimal time, according to his football load,” Merriman said.

“He’s pulled up very well.”

Forward Matt Taberner (back) and defender Heath Chapman (hamstring) are the only players who will be unavailable for selection.

There is no timeframe on Taberner’s return, while Chapman is four to six weeks away.

Merriman said Chapman was working hard to come back fitter and stronger.

“Heath’s moving through his running progression really well,” Merriman said.

“He’s still spending a lot of time in the gym to make sure he’s coming back a better athlete.”
