ROUND 7 INJURY LIST:
Heath Chapman (calf) – Test
Sam Switkowski (calf) – Test
Liam Henry (concussion protocols)
Max Knobel (concussion protocols)
Michael Frederick (adductor) – 3-4 weeks
Travis Colyer (calf) – 3-4 weeks
Nat Fyfe (foot) – TBA
Matt Taberner (back) - TBA

Michael Frederick is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks with an adductor injury, according to Executive General Manager Football Peter Bell.

Bell gave an update on Frederick in the round seven Perth Radiological Clinic injury update ahead of Freo’s clash with Brisbane at the Gabba on Saturday.

It’s believed the forward sustained the injury during the third quarter of Friday’s defeat to the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium.

“Unfortunately, Freddy has done an adductor. We believe it was when he actually kicked that left foot goal during the match,” Bell said.

“He pulled up a bit sore and scans have confirmed that he will miss the next three weeks or so.”

Meanwhile, it’s promising signs for defender Heath Chapman and forward Sam Switkowski who are both a chance to be on the flight to Queensland later this week to take on Brisbane.

The pair have each been sidelined with a calf injury.

“We have been really encouraged by what they been able to do, so we will see how they progress through main training during the week,” Bell said.

“We are hoping they will be available.”

Liam Henry and Max Knobel will both sit out of football this weekend after entering the concussion protocols, following separate head knocks while playing in Peel colours over the weekend.

“It’s disappointing for both of those players, but they have come through the knocks reasonably well,” Bell said.

“They are in the concussion protocols, so we will monitor their progress and tick the boxes.”

Travis Colyer has endured an unfortunate setback in his rehabilitation from a knee issue, suffering a calf complaint - while Nat Fyfe took part in a strong session over the weekend in his effort to get on top of a foot injury.

“It’s really frustrating, he was close to returning from the knee surgery he had earlier in the year, but in the push to return he unfortunately sustained a calf injury,” Bell said.

“Nat had a really good session, we are encouraged by that and we will see how he progresses over the week.”

Key forward Matt Taberner will now move into the rehabilitation phase for his back injury, after undergoing surgery on Friday.

“He went in on Friday, we had a number of different options and in the end we decided that surgery for a microdiscectomy was the most appropriate course of action,” Bell said.

“He will be out for the medium to long term. I know that frustrates a lot of people, but they are tricky injuries, and we just have to respect them.

“He will be back later in the year.”

Sounding like nearly season for Tabs
Just makes it look worse for playing him and Fyfe over others?
I’d like to see Treacy given confidence to play, and rotated with Jackson or Cox.
Make some changes, build a quality spine that is multi positional.
Seems Cox dictates what he wants and not what’s best for the team, or JLo?

JL has been asked about Cox forward about 50 times since he got here and the answer every time is about robbing peter to pay paul.

To be fair Cox said he prefers back but he will do whatever the team needs.

Fixed it for you.
We've kept Colyer, who fills less of a need than Tabs, because we have such a young squad and his maturity and good character is deemed important even if he's not best 22 anymore. I don't think the club would be in any hurry to punt him when our only other KPF's are basically babies
