Toast Fremantle's 1st 2016 National Draft Pick: Griffin Logue [Pick #8]

He looked big up on stage next to the others. Combine that with his natural footy ability, courage backing into packs and results at the combine and I don't think you can really go wrong.

Very happy with this selection. Especially after Carlton took SPS.

I've deliberately stayed away from draft speculation threads because I don't watch enough of the guys being touted to have an intelligent opinion but also because I didn't want to have expectations of who we would pick up and be disappointed that we didn't take him.

I have been reading this guy since we picked him up, and the common themes that stand out when people talk/write about him are:

1) his work ethic
2) his great attitude

3) his athletic ability and football talent (not too shabby there, too!)

I think the third can be honed into a really fine point if you have the first and the second - which are attributes you can't teach.

The fourth bit is that this guy grew up dreaming of being a Docker, and now he is. I don't think we can discount the emotional pull of that. Unless the club totally ****s up in how we treat him or we cut him because he's not up to scratch, it's highly likely that at worst we have a serviceable loyal servant as a back up defender and at best we've found ourselves a 200 gamer who will bleed purple for the club.

As with all the draftees, time will tell. But it seems to be a really good pick for number 8, particularly if he is the one we wanted from the start.

Enjoyed reading your comments. Had never heard that Logue was a Freo supporter and must admit I thought he was probably a WC supporter like all the Vlahov clan. Where has he said he supported Freo?

Everyone likes to dream, i think this was some persons dream that he supported fremantle, at least we woke up and found out Logue was actually playing for freo rather than dreaming he supported our team

Said he was a Saints fan on the SEN coverage. But he definitely looked like one of the happier players out there in that top 10. Comes across as very excited in all the media.

Apologies, if I've misled, I could've sworn I read it somewhere. Sounds like he's had contact with the club as a junior, though, as Crowley knows him and rates him based on his tweet yesterday.

Haha, like that ever stopped us on here from retrospectively bagging out the recruiters who make a full-time job of it Grape Bear! Can I please never hear the terms "intelligent opinion" and "Big Footy" in the same post again.
Please for the love of god can you change your avatar? Otherwise there is a good chance I'll have a assault charge hanging over my head shortly. Would this be legitimate provocation?

I believe I called this one;) Beast mode stoked! Booming left foot, big don't argues and won't be beaten under any circumstances. Incredible athlete. Well done Griff, welcome to Freo!

This guy was my favourite player in the draft. Has really nice steady kicking skills, very good control and very clean hands. Frees his arms whilst being tackled and can be developed into anything you want at his height and with his athletic ability. Every time I've heard him talk he presents very well and he has played a heap of WAFL seniors and is at an AFL playing weight already. Was played as more of a lockdown KPD this year but IMO starts off with Johnson's role to give him more freedom to use his skills creating play and his athleticism to intercept mark then over time moving into the midfield where I think he has the skills to play his best footy. Could just as easily be developed as a high CHF though. Super talent and I would've picked him at no. 1.

Crowley did the full preseason with Swan Districts. I'd have to guess that's where he knows him from.
