The fact that the captain got spanked by Buddy is damning and says it all.

Keep Wagner in the team. He was the one from down back that actually tried taking the game on consistently.

Anyone got the scores from turnover stats? I would be shocked if less than half of their score didn't come direct from us turning it over.

Not playing Reidy hurt us. All the bombing into the forward line to an outnumbered Amiss and undersized Corbett really could have used Jackson there to at least bring the ball to ground.

Reckon we should have put Treacy in the centre square a couple of times just to run through a few Sydney mid fielders.

Mate, good call. I'm loving Treacy's physicality brought into the centre recently. Its an interesting move and must be pretty intimidating for the opposition to have him as a wrecking ball in our generally short midfield.

59 points from turnovers.

It’s difficult from the sidelines to tell if our running/attacking players are suffering from poor/confusing coaching & have lost confidence or if it’s just waiting to click.

Certainly I think it’s fair to say without Cox, Chapman, Walker (in form) , Darcy, Driz (fit & in form), Brodie (in clearance God mode) & the good version of Aish we’re reaching critical mass of players who aren’t great at decision making & execution of skills.

But I’d it like Carlton or even Sydney who looked like absolute arse for most of the season before suddenly finding the groove. With Carton it all fell into place in 1/4 & before that everyone was saying Voss can’t coach & bottom 6 players aren’t good enough then last week they convincingly toppled Port which almost no be has managed.

We know Cox, Walker, Chapman, Young, Clark can all play very high level football at times. It’s not ability but is it youth, poor onfield leadership from Pearce, coaching, a poor game plan, some key players missing or all of it?

I’m hopeful Sturt is starting to feel he belongs & can be more than useful in a better organized team

I’m still worried Erasmus’s shortcomings are going to going to mean he’s one that is going to be good rather than top line.

I don’t think O’Meara should be playing.

I think we have one in Stanley & the coaches know it. Let’s face it when someone can really play we play them. Another factor in why I’ve been worried why they’ve been reluctant to use Erasmus.

I remain deeply puzzled why we try something different like Switta or Johnston as a mid & it works & then we just don’t do it again.

There were faint signs of looking to acutely target a player from kick ins

We desperately, desperately need some more high quality forwards.

Hamling gets another year. We Mary need a decent full back sooner than we think & he’s still well up to the level.

Colyer deserves another chance.
As does Wil sad on.

I hope Josh Corbett never plays another game for this club after that performance. He was a momentum killer in the 3rd quarter when we started to get a run on.

  • Missed a sitter in front of goal.
  • Completely misread a straight forward mark that was to his advantage as he ran back to goal. Rather than get up and chase to make up for the error, he decided to stay on the grass and feel sorry for himself because he stuffed up.
  • Turned the ball back over to Sydney infront of our goal because he gave away a high free kick.

Completely disagree with the 2nd point. He was running back to goal the whole time as that is where the space was and when whoever it was that kicked it got the ball he was outside 50. The ball was way under hit and sold him too short. The fault was on the kicker and not Corbett.

I think we need to add one or two better kicks into our midfield. Henry and Stanley are a good start but otherwise our midfields kicking skills are poor.

Is Schultz in form or are Sydney just his bunnies?

Henry was pretty good fwiw. Stanley too. With NOD and Chappy we might actually have something cooking in the wings.
Schulz played a very good game. 19 goals and 13 behinds before the swans game. he kicked 4 in this game.

Going by looking at his stats. North Melbourne are his bunnies.

Are we playing Johnson partially in defence atm? If so, is it because we want to use his kicking from half back, or because we don't like his midfield work? Is this also because Pearce can't kick (injury according to Taylor) and/or because Young is off the boil and Wagner (although relatively good last night) can also turn them over?

Did we also play Jackson as a defender in the last quarter? The defence not doing what they wanted clearly was a massive concern in the coaching box and they were trying all sorts. Just wondering if we will see Sturt down there next given he has pace and speed?

Watching I was torn over the delivery of the midfield; there was too much handballing in the midfield especially when we let them get up by 5 goals, but then Serong (whom I reckon is the one trying his hardest to stick to the actual gameplan which is to get it in the forward line fast) kicks some terrible kicks into the forward line that dropped short land straight in the oppositions lap to rebound quickly. Last year Acres kicked moonballs in there and at least the height gave time for the talls to create a contest; maybe we should be kicking it fast but putting a lot more height on it? Having Jackson in the ruck also doesnt help when we need him forward....

Schultz just kicked straight.

The two previous weeks he had at least 5 shots on goal for a grand total of 3 points.

Some shocking misses, kicks falling short, etc

But he was still getting opportunities. He should of had 3-4 goals total over the previous two games.

Last night he got his kicking right.

The key for him is to now back it up, again and again. He needs to be a reliable kick ... every game.
