I wonder if Brisbane have offered him this below market value offer as a compromise for more consistent trips home affecting his availability for training etc

Take the emotion out of it and it is a very good offer for a bloke playing just in his 2nd yr of football. Timeframe wise it also doesn't lock us in if he doesn't eventuate and also for him to see where are going at the end of that time. In relation to playing CHB this is also an indication that the club are trying to 'teach and develop' Schache in the art of playing as a forward and also to reprieve the pressure on him IMO. Good move on both parts.

At this point- he is not worth $600k+ nor a long term contract. It simply won't be the end of the world if we lose a KPP who is homesick and a way off fulfilling his potential.

Access to a first rd pick or 2 and an opportunity to draft early midfield picks ain't a bad option.

From what we hear the club is a happy place and the players are in it for the long haul.

What I see here is a deal that is fair and will offer the right incentive based on him meeting his potential. Realistic, practical and fair.

We cannot pay him overs when it is clear he is undecided and homesick.

The amount Schache is being offered by any club is pure conjecture. If we're confident on a 350-500k 2 year offer, then I doubt other clubs are offering 600k+.

The only situation I can see such a contract variance would be say Richmond offering 5 years/600 k but the contract is heavily backdated. If not, and he is offered 100k more I am surprised we even tabled an offer.

We're not asking him to populate Mars, just to stay a couple of years in Brissy and earn a bloody massive wage playing the sport he loves. I wouldn't mind being conflicted like that at 19.

Same. I'd like his wage now. Doesn't change the fact that he is not dealing very well atm. Even Fagan has noted it.

Hope we do better resilience checks on the next round of draftees.
