Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

From what I was told last night, seems like Bevo is a bit grumpy that Lade is pushing for change in the football department, personal and more support, money to be allocated in different directions.
Bevo hasn’t got the option to be ‘grumpy’ about this. He more than any coach goes on philosophical whims, but does he even apply these ideas to himself, does he not have self-reflection?

By all accounts, very polarizing man stuck in his ways, and it comes across as stubbornness at times. Don't know him so can't say if he self-reflects or not, the great thing about him is that he is strong willed and does sometimes plow in head first without thinking, he does love the players and the club, almost to a fault I think.

"We've asked Matthew Scarlett, Clay Smith & Barry Hall if they'd be interested in coming back to the club to take on non-senior coaching assistant roles"

This is ****ing great. Its time to get some hard mother****ers back in this club. We have turned into a bunch of soft **** pansies.

I'm almost 99% certain Clay will be back at the club in a coaching capacity next season, his been hanging around training a fair bit + doing official club functions.

At least he has some coaching background now, been head coach of Point Cook and doing a great job.

Clay with a walking stick would probably get a game for us if he’s interested in player-coaching…
I'd take him back in a heartbeat, my favorite player (apart from Libba) over the last decade or so.

I’d encourage everyone who can to attend the AGM this year and ask questions . I live 3 1/2 hours away so it’s not practical . Hopefully it’s still online .

Even better , if someone with any level of experience wants to nominate for the board , I’ll back you and others will too . You don’t have to get elected , you can use your nomination speech to ask questions .

Some of these rumours are equal parts pleasing and frustrating.

Bigfooty gets a lot wrong, we’re mostly just randoms on the internet. But doing things like:

-reducing Bevs grip
-forking out for quality assistants rather than the cheap inexperienced types
-bringing in the likes of clay, hall, Scarlett as part time assistants

…people have been saying all this for years at this point. What’s funny is that you could probably search posts specifically naming clay/hall/Scarlett and you’d find a bunch.

It’s all just common sense but it’s taken for the shit to really hit the fan (in back to back seasons) for the club to allegedly start thinking of it.

And at this point would Bev even be truly open to giving up control? He sounds like a nightmare to work with.

Not complaining if any of this stuff shakes out, it’s just crazy how long it’s taken for the obvious to hit the club. That “review” last year was a joke if it’s taken until now, and Bont personally griping to Bains, for it to happen. Doesn’t reflect well on anyone from Bevo upwards.

Would love to have him take on the role of playing assistant coach, if that was possible.
He's exactly what we've been lacking for a while now.

He was proper tough, physically and mentally. Not mouthy faux tough .... proper tough .... head over the ball ... mow you down and rip your arms off in a tackle tough ..... make a difference when the game's on the line and your completely knackered tough.

So just to be clear, and I may be reading between the lines a bit, you're saying he's tough? 😆

Adam Simpsons about to be sacked by Eagles, would be a great senior advisor to Bevo

but doubt he would move states
Whispers that he foregoes his contact payout and will acquire a couple of McDonalds restaurants very cheaply in the next 12 months.

I am🤣. And he wasn't alone in the 2016 team. Picken, Morris, Libba ..... but Clay did have a special edge to him. It was in eyes ... must have scared the bejeesus out of some of his opponents.
Someone on here used to call him Snake Eyes, it was so appropriate.
