Coach Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

Have not been a Bevo fan for a long time. His coaching so far has been very good this season and is suddenly media friendly. I had enough after the elim as I heard rumours he amended the game plan as he was fearful of the Hawks spread, players went to him at half time to go back to the fundamentals of what turned the season around and he of course rejected and we saw what transpired..

Seems strange Bevo from 15/16 has re-emerged. If this version remains I would keep him on next season.
It seems the JUH situation was coming to a head right then 😟. It would have upset the team cohesion completely. Bevo probably was trying to make adjustments on the fly. Obviously everything went pear-shaped.

I found Bevo’s comments this week about his contract situation being "week to week" pretty interesting.

If the club and Bevo are committed to each other for the next couple of years, why are they looking at things on a week-to-week basis? If he truly believes he’s the right man for the job and the club also believes in him, I don’t see the point of making decisions based on short-term results.

Is it because the club and/or Bevo have already decided to part ways at the end of the year, and now it’s just about seeing things through—unless finals become a real possibility? Obviously, I don’t know that for sure, but I’m struggling to understand why they wouldn’t just commit if both sides genuinely believe that is the right path.

Without any basis, I firmly believe both parties understand that this will be the last year.

Bevo feels relaxed and without any pressure and knows he can place his all in the current job.

A few weeks ago, I would’ve said you were crazy. But reading between the lines with Bevo and some of the other club officials, I think it’s starting to lean in that direction.

My uneducated opinion after watching him talk this year is that he will call it a day (for us anyway) at the end of this year. I’ve been wrong plenty of times before, but it just seems like a weight has been lifted for him (imagine him dealing with the JUH stuff in 22-23). He loves a narrative, and the last dance narrative would have him excited.

Ralphy reporting that Bevo's increased media presence and new mellower persona is essentially a self-promotion tour for coaching elsewhere next year. kinda has that vibe about it to me as well.

Maybe with more support around him now, Bevo is feeling less pressure, and has more tolerance and time to do these appearances, it might also be part of a Bulldogs charm offensive as well. We hadn't really seen Bont on many of these shows either over the last couple of years.

Barrett mentioned this in his awful Sliding Doors column too (whilst taking a predictable crack at Bevo)

How would he know? Isn’t he still stuck in the toilet cubicle?
I don't know what he knows just that he mentioned it.

I read it every week for the unintended humour. He mentioned the dogs in 4 sections, definitely still has a fixation.

Highly doubt Bev will coach elsewhere.

Now the club has given him the additional support he is back to the Bev who came to the club with more experience and wisdom.

Fully expect that around the bye, unless we have a significant drop off he will have a 2 year extension.

We do not have any quality media, not sure why people here pay any credence at all to the dilitons

Dogs time to be bold ,95% I have been a Bevo man and waivered a little bit especially after the WCE loss in 2023. Offer him a 2 extension now he is coaching this group extremely well and his positivity is flowing through to the playing group.

if we do not get on the front foot the blues, dees and dockers could be looking for Bevo type coach. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Cornes and Purple.

Who is the Luke Williams mentioned? Is he from another team or new to the league
Sorry to interrupt the discussion about Bevo, but Luke Williams has also been the coach of the Western Jets U16 (“Juniors”) squad for several years. So lots of experience at identifying, developing and coaching underage talent.
Can’t speak highly enough of him.

I’m seeing a lot of comments of ‘now that he (Bevo) has extra support’. As a new Doggies supporter can someone elaborate on this for me please? Just interested in what’s changed and what he had to deal with previously

The pendulum swings...again. Scrappy win against a struggling side and now he's the messiah again. Time to re-sign him pending another 6th-8th place finish and losing the elimination final.

He's been the coach for 11 years, has had no shortage of A-graders to work with, yet we are perennially inconsistent.

Should not be re-signed unless we win a final, and even that should just be the bare minimum. Re-signing him any earlier would be foolish, just like it was foolish to re-sign him for 2 years before the start of 2023.
Take away Darcy and Dale you have no A graders for the Bulldogs playing last night in my view

Hawthorn, scrappy win against an almost identical Carlton outfit. If 20 points is the best they can do they should just concede the flag to Gold Coast. No point playing 20 more rounds.
