• Roof structure is coming to its end of life, in particular the tensioned fabric construction
• there is localised degradation of the steel structure that needs to be addressed
• Corrosion protection is end of life and needs replacing
• Cooling and Ventilation plant and equipment is end of life and needs replacing
• Fire life systems need upgrading to become compliant with current requirements

These are what they think will cost $400-$500 million just for maintenance to keep it till 2032

Normally i would read the review and get some insight into the proposes changes.
First of all, not sure why they bothered with a "terms of reference."
My bad should not have bothered looking into all those documents especially with politicians involved. It was the off season though.

One thing for certain is, it will take some doing, to get everyone onboard not just political parties.

All going to plan the Lions & Cricket stay at the Gabba with renovations that keep the site viable for the 1/9-year period.
If that is the case the Club would be over the moon.

That along with the Gabba being at its end of life in the early 2030’s needs to be the main thing pushed to people to get them on board.

The review has also not included covering the ICB in this calculation, if they do that the green space available in the park would be even greater than what it currently is.

I think everybody commenting in comments sections of articles, senQ etc to balance out the negative rhetoric is important. Backing this everywhere you see, as it's the absolute ultimate result for the club/game in QLD in every way. If there is no counter to the whingeing, the heavies will likely fold to the negative feedback and scrap it.

The one good thing is, I don't see any other legitimate option, hopefully Coates doesn't pipe up with his stupidity again, but you can be sure Vlandy's will be on the phone to every r.l lover pushing for this to be scrapped, coz it's such a big leg up for the afl in QLD. They are already worried about the afl in QLD as it is and the guy has a lot of influence being backed by the Murdoch press. I'd also like to see cricket and the lions get on the front foot early in backing this, before the negative rhetoric builds up.

I had 8 weeks of Chemotherapy and Radiation in 2019, I got through the Chemo not too bad but the Radiation was excruciating, particularly the last week of treatment and the ensuing couple of weeks.

my partner went thru breast cancer a couple years back, double mast, chemo and radiation. she is better now and cancer free but still has some ongoing issues.

5 years clear now, I actually had my latest PET scan last week, get the results on Wednesday, going by my previous scans all will be fine, I feel fantastic.

Just in the body of the report, this line was worth noting:

If T20 Cricket is added to the Games as one of the locally added sports, Carrara Stadium will be required to host cricket matches.

Victoria Park action group slams Olympic stadium suggestion as ‘environmental vandalism’

A local action group for residents living around Victoria Park has called suggestions to build a new Olympic stadium at the park “environmental vandalism”, labelling it “shortsighted” and “unbelievable”.

“I listened to Graham Quirk on the radio this morning talking about it not just being for the Olympics but a legacy for Brisbane and Queenslanders,” Victoria Park Resident Action Group (VPRAG) spokesperson Sue Bremner said. “Well, for us, the longest-term legacy is clean air.”

Bremner said growing densification in the suburbs surrounding Victoria Park, along with the established health precinct, made the calls to turn green space into a sporting stadium even more perplexing.

“[For those involved in the 60-day review] it seems easier to pour a whole bunch of concrete into a pristine green space than it is to put the thought and time and dollars into repurposing sites that already exist,” Bremner said. “It’s just unbelievable.”

VPRAG was formed in 2020 in response to Brisbane City Council’s plans to redevelop the park.

Bremner said other community groups representing suburbs including Herston and Kelvin Grove had been “running hot” since reports of a stadium at Victoria Park started spreading on Sunday.

“[People are] absolutely frothing at the mouth over this … I don’t think the community is going to take this lying down,” she said.

It seems like it is becoming compulsory to be touched by cancer these days, my partner is 7 years on from triple negative breast cancer which I believe is the worst kind. After a pet scan 3 years ago a tumour was discovered in her lung not related to the breast cancer, and was small enough to undergo a newish type of radiation called sabre and now that is completely gone. She has an amazing positive mindset which got her through both times I believe.
