No one should bid for the olympics. At least for Sydney 2000 Australia was in the middle of a mining boom I suppose, but not sure Syd got bang for buck out of homebush.

I surmise that Grace was vocally against Vic Park in the party room, because she knows her local community don't like it, she's under threat from the Greens, and the Greens were against a Vic Park stadium. She's powerful and probably threw her weight around.

This is the most brain dead decision I’ve seen that costs the state even more money with no new oval stadium.

Well there you go, it's confirmed - Brisbane is a small city run by small minded people. No ambition, no vision. We might do the Olympics on the cheap, but we'll be paying for it forever.

It's isn't cheaper though, that's a very important point that should be pointed out on every occasion that some moron says it is, as that's the narrative that scuttled the new stadium.
People's perceptions will change when they realise they are getting stung even more money and not getting a new stadium of any long term benefit along with it. Plus it will look shithouse.
Credit to the nrl, how they swindled a stadium upgrade outta this then completely stuffed the afl getting any benefits is a masterstroke on their behalf.
