Have no idea but nothing surprises me in politics.
Not enough information though.

Steven Miles rejects independent review recommending new $3.4bn Brisbane stadium
Andrew Messenger
Queensland premier Steven Miles has sensationally rejected the recommendations of an independent review, declaring “Suncorp stadium will become our Olympic stadium”.
Former Liberal lord mayor Graham Quirk – who conducted the review of Brisbane’s billions in planned games infrastructure – recommended the centrepiece $2.7bn Gabba project be scrapped. But he instead suggested an even more expensive alternative: a $3.4bn new stadium in inner-city Victoria Park. Miles:
Miles instead threw his support behind a cheaper plan presented by Olympics boss John Coates, who recommended using existing infrastructure; Suncorp Stadium for the opening and closing ceremonies and the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC) in Nathan for athletics. QSAC hosted the Commonwealth Games in 1982.

LNP sources have told Tim Arvier, that they are likely to reject Premier Miles latest Brisbane 2032 plan and will vow to implement the Quirk review in full if elected in October. Opposition Leader David Crisafulli is expected to speak to the media soon.
Doesn't Miles look like a total jerk now....says Gabba option needs review & arranges a panel to conduct review. Then rejects review panel's recommendation and goes with a dirt cheap waste of public funds that will create no legacy benefits and leaves us with a Gabba that has little life left in it and is already inadequate and fading into irrelevance fast with no long term plan.....Liberals a shoe in now if they go with Quirk's recommendation.FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
Nailed it, plus I'll add whatever their advisors have told him gives them the best chance to win the election, no long term vision whatsoever, Miles is a nincompoop.Miles Strategy is basically which one of these requires me to spend the least money so I can say I’ll spend it on Education! Health! Crime!
They might vote for me!
In colloquial political speak it is called kicking the can down the road, I didn't think it was possible but this Miles announcement has sunk my opinion of politicians even deeper down the abyss, f wits most of them.Doesn't Miles look like a total jerk now....says Gabba option needs review & arranges a panel to conduct review. Actually very sad if we end up with a patch up job on a few facilities and nothing more. The politics of this are frustrating. Mismanaged from the very start and now the NIMBY's and greens have got enough attention that it becomes very challenging for the new state Government to do anything other than these very minor upgrades and maintenance costs. Just like it was mentioned in the roar deal podcast, this was a once only opportunity to transform parts our city and we all lose.
That's the thing, this decision doesn't actually benefit anybody. Its a worse Olympics which apparently will cost the taxpayer more than the other options anyway. So who is benefitting from this decision?I have never cared about new stadiums or the Olympics, I care more for the allocation of funds when people are doing it tough but also appreciate the need for renewed infrastructure. To make an announcement that'll cost more money and deliver no longterm outcome is so sad. Miles has basically stacked $3.6b into a pile and set it on fire.
For those who follow politics what is the consensus re the State election, which party do the pundits/polling predict will win and does the result seem inevitable?
Don't know whether to be angry or despondent .... I'll go with short term anger rather than extended malaise.I don't follow politics, but this decision screams a dire outcome for the ALP (or that is what their projections are saying). IMO two things make this a winner from Miles/ALP perspective:
1) They clearly see it'll garner them votes to adopt this approach (immediate short term thinking)
2) If they lose the election this'll be a poisoned chalice for the LNP and a stick the ALP will be able to beat the LNP with knowing it'll actually cost more than the Vic Park option.
Judging by their statement they are pushing the narrative that they accepted 27 out of 30 of the recommendations. Its just...the three they rejected happen to be more important than the others put together. Why in the absolute f*ck would you go through the process of organising an independent review, only to reject the reviews findings and instead go with the option that said review specifically outlined as being a terrible idea?
I’m a rusted on Labor voter. I will be voting for the LNP at the state election, and I feel dirty just saying that. This is next level stupid.
