Biggest reservation I have about the showgrounds is having to traverse the river every second week for five or six months. Can they guarantee our safety?

I live 2-3 klms from RNA. As a platinum member that would be handy for meAs a Platinum member I hope and expect the club will give priority to the longest serving members with the inevitable attendance squeeze at the RNA or Springfield.
RNA really is far and away the best option of the 2, it will be chaos getting 20,000 people in and out of BHA.
The Government would cover all the costs of Showjumping events as that was put forward in the original plan. The optimist in my hoping the Government is trying to wring as much money out of the RNA as possible. After all they (the RNA) will reap the rewards of any upgrades for years to come - they really should be putting a good deal of money in.
It is only the Brisbane River not the Nerang River.Biggest reservation I have about the showgrounds is having to traverse the river every second week for five or six months. Can they guarantee our safety?
Springfield is not an excellent option but that just makes the decision even more obvious. Has to be RNA between those two, surely. From someone interstate they sound like excellent options for us

Is it true the shark in the Nerang river carry knives? It is only the Brisbane River not the Nerang River.

Springfield would require major infrastructure improvements to both public mass transit and existing road networks, as well as significant infrastructure upgrades to the Lions ground.
I have survived for many years north of the river.
RNA is an easy 30 minute walk from my place though the Valley. Good times.
Not too bad before midnight!THROUGH the valley? Good way to get stabbed coming home from a Saturday night game
Unless the government want to upgrade the infrastructure.Honestly, it cannot be Springfield. As you said, any meaningful capacity upgrade would probably blow the cost way out past the cost of an RNA upgrade, as the infrastructure literally barely handles the current capacity. The highway grinds to a halt with events there as it is.
But they can’t not upgrade the capacity, because if they picked Springfield as it is now, they would absolutely haemorrhage members in the years they spend there.
Is the Queensland Government subsidising the lost Lions income from having such a reduction in attendance numbers for the 4 years away from the Gabba? Presumably there will be a large drop in sponsors boxes as well as general attendance, and also a big drop in member numbers as they couldn't be guaranteed a seat with the reduced seating. Even if these things are subsidised it will have a significant long term impact on the Lions financial situation as it will take years to get back lost members and sponsors. Unfortunately I fear we are going to be the big losers out of the Olympics.
A 30% increase in membership prices but with limited access to get into a game sounds like wishful thinking to me.Can’t see too many members going for that.Unfortunately, I believe the current plan is for membership & ticket prices to be hiked to cover the difference in both the RNA and Springfield options. Would expect a 30% rise on current prices to make up for the reduced capacity.

For those prepared to pay the increase.I think it's a 30% increase with guaranteed access.
Can’t see that plan blowing up in their faces at all.Unfortunately, I believe the current plan is for membership & ticket prices to be hiked to cover the difference in both the RNA and Springfield options. Would expect a 30% rise on current prices to make up for the reduced capacity.
There's actually a way to make this work were you offer a second tier membership which maintains status and access to the Gabba when we return for a lesser price. Everyone stays "a member" but the costs are borne differently.I think it's a 30% increase with guaranteed access.
If they do that membership will plummet and a lot won't be bothered coming back.Unfortunately, I believe the current plan is for membership & ticket prices to be hiked to cover the difference in both the RNA and Springfield options.
