wow, unbelievable post.... maybe rather then ppl having to check post time add some description/substance?

Actually, it gave people an extra chance to stumble out of the thread without seeing a spoiler.

If the Cats had won, we would see about 50 threads asking us to marvel at the great G.Ablett. I'm yet to see a Cassisi thread...

It was a good kick but it was a standard running goal... port were in front all day and should have won, nothing that special.

Gablett's goal was GotY contender, the way he got himself out of the pack to kick it, and put geelong in front at the right time.

Stupid thing to say mate.

Massive pressure kick with 6 seconds left. Nothing 'run-of-the-mill' about it. GAbletts was brilliant. As was Cassisi's. But we'd have seen a bigger fuss made of Ablett's goal had Geelong won.

This will sound weird, but great loss for geelong. That one will sting, and remind them just how bad it is to lose. Perfect lead into September if you ask me.

I don't believe that. If anything it will give hope to every team that comes up against them from here on in.

Fair enough, but add a possible Brownlow medal-winning midfielder as well as one of the top 2 taggers in the game and then reality sets in to those other teams I reckon.

Quite true. Geelong are still firm favourites for the flag and rightfully so. I just don't subscribe to the theory that a loss before finals is a good thing.

Did anyone else listen to the game on 3AW?

When Cassisi kicked the winning goal it was interesting to hear Rex say "Geelong have lost the game" rather than "Port have won".

We did lose the game.

We piss farted around with the ball, handpassed it to Playfair who coughed it up to Cassissi. All Ottens had to do was bang it long down the line and we were home.

Well if you isolate that last 30 seconds, he's correct. Henry Playfair got tackled, and coughed it up straight to Cassisi. Don't think we'll be seeing much of Hank again.

How can you compare the two? I reckon one player on the field could have kicked Ablett's and about 44 Cassisi's. Yeah it was at a crucial stage, but it was a stock standard goal for an AFL player. Having said that, I was still bloody happy that he kicked it.

It was a great game and Geelong would lose no admirers out of that. We won the game in the clearances and Geelong were down in that area with no Bartel or Selwood and also Ling to close down S Burgoyne. However, you can only beat who's there and we did that. This will give us a tremendous confidence boost going into September and could ensure we get a home prelim. MASSIVE Win.
