I wonder what financial position yesterday's game left the club in? If it was a loss - should be requesting that the AFL underwrite it.

As an alternative, considering the AFL made us play at a neutral venue, should instead request the AFL let us play the game over here. Get 30,000 or so, might as well make some $$...(of course the AFL wouldn't allow it, but might as well make a point).

I await the day that the AFL make West Coast play home games at the WACA again

We're playing GC at Darklands IIRC?

Good thinking. Why don't we try and schedule our game against the V-Line workers at Corporate Stadium next year. I mean I dont want to jinx us but we aren't going to get a crowd anyway, the big wigs get their new boys on show at the shiny stadium and we can overcome the hoodoo..

I didn't pay extra either:eek: Nobody who had a membership would have paid extra.

Incorrect. You can sit in general public on membership but to get a decent seat you pay for it. On top of.

Thats why I don't go to Etihad!

And why bother to see that continual tripe?

You pay your membership to watch a performance. Call it red neck theatre or whatever, but you pay for a performance. If you were at the theatre and the main character forgot his/her lines all night, would you be happy with the coin you forked out???? No???? Possibly demand a refund??

No different to the AFL.

Specifically Mebourne.

Sick to death of the same crap being dished out time after time, year after year. There is no hunger, no killer spirit, no desire..........and the supporters who say "stick with it" are part of the problem. You accept mediocracy.

We need a coaching mongrel that put the players on notice in a public forum......thats what the real supporters want. Not the old "it will be alright next year" garbage attitude that gets put out every year.

Scummingwood is my most hated but the way they do not accept anything less than best effort is where we should be - anything less is just talk.

Clearly, we're going around in circles here.

Can I just suggest you look up the word 'Apathy' in the dictionary.

Apathy: 1. Lack of interest or concern
2. Lack of emotion or feeling
3. See a large proportion of MFC supporters

Correct. I have no interest in waching our club put in insipid efforts. You may support it, I won't. Can think of better things to do on the weekend that is more enjoyable than watching my team get flogged.

Edit: Couldn't have summed up my thoughts and feelings better.

I'm probably in the minority here and in terms of AFL fans more generally, but I watch sports for the entertainment factor. For me, the entertainment comes from competition, the uncertainty of live action drama. Before the rebuild I loved attending the footy, that irrational feeling of nervousness/excitement over a game that I have no personal stake in. Have to say the fun has gone out of it a little in recent times. Absolutely no issue turning up to a game I know we will lose, I enjoy an underdog, but the lack of competitiveness against the top sides takes the sting out.

I didn't attend on Sunday and don't feel bad about it. I've contributed a stack of cash to the club this year, and attended every other home game. After watching the Geelong game and attending the Hawthorn and Carlton games I didn't see the appeal of taking half a day out of my weekend to watch another no contest.

The crowd was disappointing but not unexpected. I think it's common knowledge that we don't have a huge number of supporters and in down years (especially one among several in succession) the numbers will suffer. It will build back. Check out footywire.com for crowd numbers, even Carlton dipped significantly in their down years (average of 33k odd in 02 and 03, no avg of 40 until 08).

I'll be there for the last two home games and will re-up for next season. Can't wait for the bandwagon to start filling up again over the next couple of years. :thumbsu:

Why don't you go and follow collingwood then?

Stickman, would rather watch a 180kg bloke having a dump after a night on the sauce than be seen to support the scummingwood..........

All I'm trying to say is that we need some fire and brimstone - not behind closed doors, but something we can hold our hats onto and see that the powers that be are not accepting our current plight.

If you have success on the field, as a general rule, the offfield stuff will look after itself.

The best thing Dean Bailey ever did was punch the coaches box when he won one of his games. There was emotion!!!!!!! Only reason it was talked about because Melbourne never do it!

Please, please please Mick - come and guide our young playing group and get them on the right track. And bring your never say attitude from day dot.
