I didnt read his comments that way. IMO he means the club handed over records but they were never taken into consideration by ASADA. He never actually said ASADA destroyed evidence

Then why hasn't Essendon produced a copy. Forensically check the computer. The reality is if there was such a document Essendon would have publicly declared this document and shown every media outlet on their way down to ASADAs offices. Little would have been like a little boy with a lollypop. That's why everyone knows Hird is full of BS on this issue. It simply doesn't exist.

He said Asada destroyed evidence.
Robbo said that's a big accusation!.
It's not an accusation it's a fact said Hird.
He's in deeeeeep shit.
He said it mxett don't try to sugar coat it mate!.

Haha yes; despite the fact that eight of his teammates fessed up to doping and dobbed him in. Of course they would have. Good on you Whately, keep fighting the good fight

Pffff...none of those "witnesses" could have been sure what was in those vials? Were they chemists? Did they even own mass spectrometers?

I suspect ASADA will contact his lawyers pretty quickly and demand a public apology quickly or move to take action via the courts.

Expect a contrite Albert to front the media at Tullamarine in the next day or so, offer an apology and blame it on emotion, fatigue, and frustration and that he should not have agreed to go on the show in that state. He will then proceed to do what he always does and blame someone else, in this case Whately, for ambushing him when he was vulnerable.

When will James act like an adult and take responsibility for his actions ?

Well done to Whately for actually asking 3 hard questions tonight to James Hird.

I think he smells blood.

If he does, then expect some others to get the guts up to start actually asking some hard questions.

Whateley earned back some respect tonight, asked some hard questions of Hird which Hird wad clearly uncomfortable with answering.

Key points - Hird believes ASADA destroyed evidence (being a spreadsheet showing the players were injected with a substance referred to as "Thymomodulin") and he is unwilling to name one regret or one thing he would've done differently (he'd like to keep that for another time - perhaps a "tell all" interview after he gets sacked or keep it for his memoirs, ghostwritten by Robbo and Tania).

No, on 360 tonight, Hird said they handed over this spreadsheer and it wasn't them that destroyed it. When Robba asked commented that that was a big accusation, he said that it wasnt an accusation but a fact.

Key word is destroyed, he implied the spreadsheet was destroyed.
oh for crying out loud, he isnt saying ASADA destroyed the spreadsheet, he's saying it was given to ASADA and therefore essendon didnt destroy records. He is implying ASADA didnt consider it as evidence

Good player doesn't make him adept at life or socially intelligent, obviously. Even he admitted he's made mistakes, obviously he got challenged tonight, lost his cool, then made another one.

Whately pushed his buttons way, way too easily. Hird failed again.
the original claim was he couldnt handle pressure which is ridiculous to suggest of an elite AFL player

He didn't say they destroyed it. Just said they had it, and that "we didn't destroy it"
Read into it what you will, but I didnt hear him explicitly say they destroyed it

To be honest, who knows. Even if we had it, what does it prove

Too bad Lance Armstrong couldn't get away with such an argument, isn't it?

And until he actually admitted cheating, many of his followers still argued that he was never caught with a positive sample, therefore nothing was proven. Any of this sound familiar?

Just a thought. What jurisdiction does wada have? I mean if they win the appeal and say players banned for a year, why does the afl have to comply? Its not like its an international sport. Cant the afl just say who cares what wada says?

Just wondering.

The AFL's government funding (for stadium upgrades etc) is reliant on them being a signatory to the WADA code. There was a big hoo haa about it in 2006 I think when the AFL baulked at their illicit drugs policy from memory and instead implemented their current "3 strikes" policy.

So turn your back on WADA that's fine, the NFL and MBL for two do it - but don't expect any money from the government. Fortunately the NFL earns $4 billion A YEAR in TV rights so they don't have to worry about that.

The other interesting thing from 360 was the numerous times it was hinted at that the parents of the players are far from happy.

Seems to be something bubbling under the surface there. Neither was prepared to spell it out candidly but it was referred to several times.

He didn't say they destroyed it. Just said they had it, and that "we didn't destroy it"

We didn't destroy the evidence.
That's a big accusation James,Robbo says.
It's not an accusation it's a fact James says.
Yes we can all read into a fact as fiction if our heads are firmly placed between the back part of our upper thighs!

I agree he never stated it. I am also sure they would have been taken into consideration . It's not ASADA's job to raise the defense for the accused
Totally agree. Hird is merely saying they gave records and therefore didnt destroy them.

This has been my point for a while. Essendon providing records of what was used doesnt prove banned substances were not used. Nor does no records prove they were.
