Its his personal beliefs. Also, he has suffered from side effects including disturbing dreams in the past when using medication. But mostly he prefers his body to naturally repair itself, without the aids of anti-inflammatory medication.
Might be OK for Average Joe in the street but for an elite footballer....... I'd have thought this explains in part why he is at loggerheads with the club

It's interesting since Bomber has mentioned on 360 a couple of times that Gary is the most professional athlete he's ever known.. I would think ignoring the best advice wasn't overly professional

Yeah, some would say its a massive conflict, and possible breach of contract

This far in, yes. But looking at how much his left arm has atrophied indicates that he probably should have been regularly taking anti-inflammatories during rehab. Instead, it was sore, swollen, and painful, during his recovery - which now has given us Gary the One Armed Bandit.

The more I think about it the stranger it is. To keep his right side in such fine shape, he must have been working his arms and shoulders independently. Surely, the lack of the left catching up to the right must have set off some serious warning bells throughout his recovery. Is his belief in himself so great that it didn't occur to him that this is an issue.

This is a guy who swears by the Paleo diet

How frustrating would that be for the Suns medical guys and the coaching group to have been watching him clearly restricted but him refusing to adopt the best treatment methods available. If his second attempt at recovery his way ends up with the same result, then surely he's going to have to go close to retiring. I can't imagine another club picking up a guy who can't tackle and refuses to do what's necessary to be able to. If there is such a club, I can't see GAJ accepting the type of remuneration that would come with his restrictions. Would just be a horrible way for the industry to lose one of the greatest ever, however, I suppose he'd actually be going out on his own terms. Albeit prematurely.

he'll be fine.
He's only carried the Suns for a few years.
look at poor Juddy.
he carried west coast while he was there, went to carlton to carry them, & they still expect him to keep doing it despite being a pensioner.
if the Juddster can do it for so long, surely Gazzalenko can as well :p

It's not that simple. It takes up to a year sometimes more for atrophied muscles to return to something like full form (and even then it's not always guaranteed). You can still use them and do stuff, but the strength isn't there. It comes little by little by little.
So yeah don't expect to see anything like normalcy, in both size and strength, until next year.

I suppose it depends on the surgery. I dislocated my shoulder a number of times finally having the corrective surgery in year 12. Was the loosest shoulder the surgeon had seen to that point. Maybe because it was out for 3 hours while I was being x-rayed to ensure it wasn't a broken collarbone, despite being my 4th dislocation and me saying it came out while shadow boxing you mupp.... But I digress. He's readying himself to play AFL football, not recover the full range of motion required to play low level or just carry on a normal life. To turn your back on any medical advantage, within the obvious framework, is folly of the highest order. It's madness, plain and simple.

Judd carried West Coast? You mean the same team who had Daniel Kerr and Ben Cousins in the midfield?

He's obviously doing something right, I'm not sure you can bag him for his diet and training with his record.

Is he though? How long has he been recovering and where is he at now. This is the first time that his belief system has been put to the test and he's played 2 games while terribly hampered. He now gets some time off to get it right to play, but he's already had lots of that and it's obvious his shoulder is nowhere near it. If he thinks that doing more of the same will yield different results, then he MAY be in for a shock. Emphasis on 'may'.

yes
of course
Kerr very under rated, & Cousins very good,
but Judd got tag 1, 2 & 3
& still dominated
best west coast player ever by a miiiiiiiile
no Judd = no finals
no Kerr = top 8, but not top 4
no Cousins = top 8, Fletcher & Braun & Embliy get them into the top 4.
Judd the main man by a long way
long way
sorry for this
delusional west coast supporters will always exist
good luck Gazza

There is just so much wrong that I don't know where to start. So I'll just leave it.

we love you cuzzy
we hate you Juddy
am I doing it right?
no wonder neutrals in WA generally despise wc & don't mind Freo (except when we play those purple %$#@)

Not at all. A quick search on the Eagles board comes up with this thread…

Judd just edging ahead of Cousins. But nice try.
just edging past is ridiculous. he did that in his first year!!!!
back to Gazza
just an absolute star.
see him getting back to at least close to his best
but soon will move forward & be that crazy forward you find hard to match up on
too fast for talls
too strong for smalls
too classy & smart for most
a star!!!

It's all pure speculation. In 8 weeks it could be no better than it is right now if he continues to tread the same path regarding his recovery. And as a belief personality type, I doubt he'll be doing much changing.
So then in 8 weeks time if it's no better what happens... interesting times coming up
