Gary Ablett splurges $3m on Gold Coast mansion at Broadbeach Waters

Love how this thread has unsuspecting turned into a critique of interior design and architectural creativeness. I dont know much (anything) about real estate, but for 3.4 mill, not really flash hey... or is 3.4 mill not expensive for houses these days??

Pretty sure it would be built on a slab, so any floorboards will be basically wooden tiles anyway.

There's some much more impressive homes out my way that you'd probably get for a Million cheaper, but they arent on a Canel within spitting distance of a goldcoast beach.

Dude you live in Narre Warren South, for 3 and a half million you could purchase the whole suburb.

Yeah that's the spirit.

Rather than being critical of the architecture I think the brain power of the BF crew is better spent finding suitable cleaners for Gaz.

100m2 is going to need a minimum of 3 staff.......

For $3.4m, that's kinda of "kit house" like. Anyone with me? I mean it has a pool which is great, and access to the canals, but $3.4m, really?

Yeah I'm with you, for the money he paid it has no wow-factor.

It will improve after he's hung his memorabilia, medals, trophies, framed GF jumpers etc. ;)

Meh of a house really. Doesn't even have air conditioning...
What are those vents in the ceiling then? I'm pretty sure they are for the ducted air conditioning.

There seem to be alot of property experts here. Good on him, very nice house. I just hope it has an ice bath after Selwood, Chapman and co run through him ;)

Gaz denied buying it on twitter

Doubt Gaz would admit buying it if he had, otherwise everyone knows where he lives.

You pay 3.4 Million for a house with fans...

Please Gazza i thought you had more class than that...

It does have aircon.

I wouldn't be too happy with everyone knowing where i live... Anywho like someone said if he gets a boat it will only take him a few minutes to get to Carrara via the Narang River. I'm sure the GCFC will create his own personal jetty...

Good to see you can read better than the average Collingwood supporter but a little bit more work is needed before they let you graduate from primary school.

There are still some blocks of land around for under 1/2 a million in my postcode but only regular sized house blocks I think.

Lot of this sort of thing. ( The really good places are all POA ).

There are some houses listed in my suburb at under a million, but when you actually look at the address its a different suburb. If you waited long enough you'd probably get something for around $800 K though.

Personally I don't give a rats, I like where I live no matter what it's worth. ( And if it was worth less the rates would be lower ), but since you raised the topic.

That place also seems more homely. Each to their own though.

Hopefully where you bought it was before everyone got sucked in by the FIRB changes. :thumbsu:

That house would be at least 2 million dollars cheaper than 3.4 a far cry from the 1 million you suggested.

I'm not having a go at you, I just find it odd that you would even mention Narre Warren as a place where he could have bought a house.

you and your sold his soul type are pathetic.

move to fuking communist and corrupt china or cuba if you're against people taking their opportunities and being rewarded for their efforts. the bloke has done nothing wrong apart from offend some precious supporters feelings who should get a life and make the most of theirs rather than slag off others who are making a fist of it.

You see there’s a little thing called the salary cap in the AFL that precludes clubs from paying their stars whatever they gotdamn feel like. In the event that it is breached, google the Carlton Football Club to get an idea of what type of punishments the AFL swiflty dish out for the indiscretion of paying players what they think they’re “worth”. Same thing was on the cards for Geelong, even if they sneakily tried to arrange shifty Juddesque Visy third party sort of deals. It truly boggles the mind that a socialist commie injustice of this magnitude could have escaped the attention of a capitalist bleeding-heart such as yourself. My heart goes out to you…

wow, seriously? The hate is strong with this one...

Pfft nothing compares to the disgraceful manner the bullies treated a bonafide champion of the game who happens to have won 3 times the number of Premierships that contemptible club has in their entire history. Nobody at that club was worthy of licking his boots.

You have a problem. I know Collingwood won the final and all, but do you have to try to be an arseh*le about everything.

I didn't mention Narre Warren as a place where he could buy a house.
All I said that "there's some much more impressive homes out my way ( there are ) that you'd probably get for a Million cheaper, but they arent on a Canal within spitting distance of a goldcoast beach ". Inferreing that the location of Abletts house , "in Broadbeach" , "on the canal " close to the ocean " is what makes the place expensive.

You then chose to bag my comment and made derogatory comments about another suburb 9km from where I live

Why don't you just stop typing and look at pictures of meter maids or something.
