Gary Handball Jr. - A Disturbing Trend

Who would've thought that a Hawthorn fan would be concerned with Ablett's handballing at the moment?

You know, given you're not in the eight and 3/4 of the blokes in your team are hideously underperforming.

I'm concerned about the fabric of the game, and the way it is played.

I think it's time for Gary to be awarded the Brownlow medal. And I mean today. Hopefully that will be the end of all the stat padding.

Well..I'm sure Gary would prefer to kick more, but as anyone with an understanding of the game would know, it's difficult to get a kick away when you have someone other than yourself inside your jumper!
His job is to get the ball and either run and carry, kick it long to advantage or handpass to someone else who can?
What is so difficult to understand about that or are you, as I suspect, simply a moronic agitator?

I'm looking for answers. All solutions to the problem of how to curtail GHJ's exploding handball ratio can be posted here.

I want to encourage all to contribute with their ideas.

An extraordinary meeting will be held with several heads of Bay13, including myself, Biffinator, geelongcrazy26, and the moderators to try and come up with a workable mitigation for the time being.

Stat Blinkers!

We need stat blinkers for Gary Handball Jnr.

Maybe, we can get all Clockwork orange on him and brainwash the meaningless of stats to the tune of beethoven. That way, he'll just play footy the way its mean to with out racking up 25-30 cheap forgetable possies each week.

You mean like running his guts out, being a close 3rd in the AFL in Contested Possessions despite missing 2 games, bringing his team-mates into the play when corralled into a corner, shepherding and blocking for the likes of Selwood and Bartel, all while having a succession of hard-tags rotating on him?
Seriously get a ****ing clue before you attempt to belittle the best player in the game.

Inside his jumper?

I've already explained to you guys, Gary doesn't get the no.1 tag most weeks.

Funny enough, it's usually Selwood.

Podgey, since when are umpires allowed to look at the stats sheet after the game?

If he was trying to be noticed, don't you think kicking it would achieve that better than handballing it?

It's hard to 1-2 with kicks.

With handball he can get his hands on the ball more often and thus garner the attention of the umpires.

Haha, I love the exaggeration.

By succession of hard tags, I assume you mean, nobody?

The only tag I've seen on Ablett this year was Robert Shirley, and it was the loosest tag you'll ever see.

You are, in fact, on crack!
You didn't notice the 3 rotating tags hanging on to Gary's arms and waist at stoppages yesterday?
At least try to make sense....

He get's tagged. Don't really give a shit what number it is.

He should be able to get away from the second best tagger of the opposition team without handballing us all to sleep. :thumbsu:

He probably does get tagged. I think Collingwood had Scott Pendlebury on him, but that was more of a head to head thing

the most disturbing fact is the OP of this thread..

why would a dawks supporter care about what ablett is doing.. myself as a cats fan couldn't give a stuff what sewell mitchel etc are doing

oh yeah rioli is down and out, podges next best thing on BF is ablett

I worry about the quality of the football on the park. We don't go to games to watch a player try to handball himself past Greg Williams' record.

Gary used to kick the ball.

It was a while ago, sure, but he actually has more kicks than handballs over his career.

Kicks: 1637
Handballs: 1507

Needs 130 handballs, or 65 1-2s to square the ledger.

Maybe then the stat padding will stop.

oh, hodgepodge... id love to see you meet gary ablett and get all star struck. the guys a great player, man. stop wasting electricity and get over it, hey? maybe if you spent a little more time practicing your handballing and kicking, youd be out there padding your stats and getting paid $600,000 a year. maybe even have a few AA guernseys, and a premiership medal? like, um, gary ablett? you know, the guy quite a few people think is the best player in the competition? ;)

Interesting that HP would criticise Gazza for "stat-padding" when we all know there is no more of a shameless Own Thread Stat-Padder than Podgey!
HP ...King of the BF 1-2!
