Gavin Crosisca : Grog and drugs cost me the lot

Didn't Dale Lewis write this story about 10 ******* years ago?

**** off Ed.
Dale Lewis said up to 75% of players use drugs, have a knowledge of the testing procedures and know how long the drugs (specifically speed and ecstasy) stay in the system. He basically was told to **** off by most people in the footy community, but was backed up by Gary Lyon who said he was made a scapegoat and said "Let's not sweep this under the carpet, let's deal with this in a mature manner"

That didn't happen, and this story apparently being 'earth-shattering' is proof that we're supposed to be shocked when we hear of players using recreational drugs.

I dont barrack for west coast and therefore am free to make comments about another clubs drug issue.

got his first taste in the premiership celebrations... was he celebrating with other players? o_O

Collingwood supporters on here backing eddie for this one should pull their head in. 'side by side we stick together' shouldnt preclude you from having a brain and seeing that he has made an attention whoring claim about his earth shattering story that has turned into a fizzer... "can do no wrong because he wears the prison bars" gets a little tedious.

Nobody tells geelong posters off for commenting on drugs stories, even though GABsr clearly had a coke problem, or WB supporters, as young libba had a bit of a problem. Collingwood supporters definitely shouldnt be allowed to have an opinion on drinking because http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/content/2008/s2324795.htm not all pies players are above reproach http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/pies-star-quizzed-on-shooting/2007/06/28/1182624084999.html

Maybe as a Crows supporter you can give us your opinion about players bashing their girlfriend in a pub

I know it's trivial, but jebus, are sub-editors really this lazy?

Gavin Crosisca was never a star. That's like me claiming that Peter Wilson was a star for the Eagles.

Honestly, the only reason I think they do it is because 'STAR' takes up less space than 'PLAYER'.

But then again, it IS News Ltd, and they probably think that if they make Crosisca out as a star, then more people will think the AFL is corrupt and the people will flock to their sport.

"has admitted to used illicit drugs"

Quality Engrish.

Premiership spud Crosisca stuffs his life up... blames it on drugs = front page news.

Premiership star Neagle dies young in truck accident = lost somewhere in middle section of paper.

You can tell that the selling point here is drugs. o_O

There are billions of dollars is tax payer funds invested in keeping the things illegal.

mmm I'm finding holes all through this story
"It was just out of the blue, going to a one-day cricket match at the end of 1989. Talking about Speed
It was a once off and then the next taste I had was in our Grand Final celebrations." 1990
"As my career ended I was able to move on to the drug of choice, speed. It then took over my life.????
Very convenient line that one

His career ended in 2000, so he is saying he never took Speed for the next 10 years of his playing career?

Cannibis is a downer drug, Speed is an upper which characteristics are almost the complete opposite effect.
So Crosisca wanted to be on a downer during his playing career and not have that euphoric feeling of wakefulness and induce alertness while playing?
Downers are often used after taking uppers, to reduce the anxiety/hangover which often appears after taking the uppers.
I am sorry for his addiciton, but i'm not buying the story that this was not taking place whilst he was playing.

Not necessarily. It depends on the strain you would get, where some can be euphoric and have an "upper" effect.

if youre going to respond like that youre proving my point. find me an afl club that hasnt had a player indiscretion. if im not allowed to have an opinion because of bock you arent allowed to have an opinion for the examples i just cited. if you cant see that then you basically remove yourself from any serious discourse and reenforce my point.

I have asked for your opinion on Bock, I never said you shouldn't have one, I would guess all AFL clubs would have players who have had an indiscretion, you decided to highlight Collingwood, I highlighted the Crows

I reckon i could become one of those people that just lashes people on twitter and just abuse Eddie for this ridiculous build up. What a joke. Lucky i dont have twitter
