Demons Drug Crisis - Why not the same scrutiny as West Coast?

And to be fair back in that era Social Media wasn't as big as it is now and not sure you could even take photos with your mobile back then
That is true, these were just the things the media knew about back then. I imagine the shenanigans noted above were only the tip of the icebag er, I mean iceberg.

I think a big part of this is the shifting of society standards, mostly from lefties who have a large acceptance and tolerance of illicit drug use and have become incredibly soft on demonizing its usage.

20 years ago, people were harsher on illicit drug usage, these days, socialist societies just shrug their shoulders about drug use.

I think this is where it stems from

Ahh yes because the demonization pathway has worked so well in places like the US...

Seemed like most Monday mornings the emails fired around of Cuz and Gardy out of the town. The cameras may only have been 1 mega-pixel but they still worked. Videoing in a dark club would have been almost impossible though.

A friend of mine played U18s with a guy who was drafted to the Eagles during that 'era'. He remained close mates with him, and they would catch up whenever West Coast played in Melbourne.

A couple of stories he told were pretty outrageous.

Two that made me chuckle and that i always remember, were:

1) A senior player punching another player in the face at training, seemingly unprovoked. Dropped him. You'd laugh if I told you the names.

2) This kid was forced to skull (scoll?) a pot glass full of straight vodka by senior players not long after he arrived. Apparently they'd go out boozing regularly during the pre-season.

There were a few other ones from a different source who was a good friend of mine, that used to actually party with with a couple of the West Coast players (one in particular) that were even more outrageous.

This player smashed my mate in the face when they were sitting around chilling after a big night out because he jokingly ribbed him about his performance in the 06 GF. Biggest shiner I'd ever seen.

Still makes me laugh thinking about it.
Judd?

He was there when Casboult had to get removed from that restaurant after the players forced him to drink.

Also, we already know Melbourne players like to publicly belt each other too.

Yeah prohibition and demonisation has done a great job of ridding the scourge of drugs from society. Hardly anyone takes drugs. Especially not young people. Addiction problems are a thing of the past. It's been a wonderful success.

How times have changed.

Well actually have they?

When the Eagles were partying the Brat Pack at Collingwood were having a great time also. Some even mention in their books in retirement how the club President and AFL officials looked after them multiple times getting them out of trouble.

So maybe it's BAU for the AFL and media in Melbourne town not shining the light on these matters.

Just about every word of that adds more sh!t to the board, luckily they all slide off into a pool of thoughtless, reductionist, absurd muck onto the ground.

We are all dumber having read it.

For certain Melbourne clubs that is definitely true.

You think the AFL is not soft on drug users??

Currently under the policies, all a player has to do is come forward to the league and tell them they are taking an illicit drug, and they receive no strike, no penalities.. Just drug education and help.

They are absolute marshmellows on illegal drug use and it reflects a dramatical left leaning shift of the AFL higher ups.

The AFL should come down very hard on illegal drug use and have zero tolerance as community leaders, yet they have an incredible amount of tolerance for it.
