3 recent flags but the Cats are nearly as broke as Brisbane. Why?

I know it's only feeding the trolls but Geelong had no dynasty. Sure, it was by far the greatest period in their own existence, and it hurts that the Mighties so easily and quickly eclipsed it, but the lack of B2B, let alone B2B2B, means that no dynasty was ever achieved.

Unfortunately for you, this is a bit wrong.

A search for 'Geelong Dyansty' returns 107,000 results, and articles about that dynasty from a wide range of respected authors and football people.

But you keep posting champ, maybe you'll sway the football world's opinion one day.

Well I'm sold now.....

Hawthorn win the QF and they get a week off, have a training run against an ordinary West Coast side in the PF, and go into the GF fit and fresh.

I thought we showed last year that we're perfectly capable of winning a GF after losing a QF. Sorry, but the QF loss just didn't hurt us.

If Hawthorn had beaten us in 2009, they would have made the finals, so yes that game mattered, as well as the round 1 game.

That's true of every team that we lost to, it doesn't mean those were the do or die games or that those teams all knocked us out. That honour belongs to Essendon in Rd22 alone. This is another desperate attempt for Geelong relevance

Their opinions don't change the facts, which show our dynasty as being superior :thumbsu:

The facts are in favour of Hawthorn as well.

Geelong fans would do well to follow the Geelong Advertiser's advice and accept that Hawthorn have gone past Geelong now, while still recognizing that your team did well in its little run. There's no shame in losing to Hawthorn :thumbsu:

Having the luxury of playing an interstate team at their home ground in the Grand Final certainly helped mitigate any disadvantage the Hawks had from losing their QF.

Round 17 2009 - Hawthorn lost despite the fact they got out to a 5 goal lead in the last quarter, Franklin was on fire with a 5 goal haul, and Geelong had both key defenders in Taylor and Scarlett out of the game injured, in a game that Hawthorn were desperate to win in order to keep their season alive, while Geelong had a top 2 spot sewn up regardless of the result.

That result certainly mattered to Hawthorn whether you want to admit it or not.

Once again relying on someone's opinion :$

Both sides netted three flags during their respective dynasties, however the following KPI's tip the scales in favour of Geelong.

Finals win percentage
Home and away win percentage
All Australian selections
Brownlow medalists
MVP winners

Oh and we didn't lose a final en route to a flag, unlike Hawthorn, and Brisbane for that matter :thumbsu:

Hello Nakia.
Oh and you didn't go B2B and 3 Peat.
4>3
Geelong were also not good enough to reach 4 consecutive Grand finals.
Hawks had them at the B2B, the 3 Peat beats all the completely irrelevant individual honours.

Hawthorn were unfairly disadvantaged by not being allowed to play Port, St Kilda and Collingwood in a Grand Final.

You keep changing your tune.

I've noticed you've included that 4th flag again. :D

3 flags is 3 flags.

The facts say that we were far more dominant than the Hawks could ever hope to be.

Geelong's dynasty > Hawthorn's dynasty.

The opposition that we had to face were far stronger than the rubbish interstate teams that the Hawks had as competition.

And you should always believe everything on Google

If you search make me a sandwich you get 109,125 results

Doesn't mean I'll get one

Haha, winning the GF is just a bonus, the point is we showed that we could make it there, which torpedoes your claimed that somehow losing a QF stopped us from getting to the Grand Final in the first place. And we saw that in 2015 we were able to lose a QF and get to a GF (and win it)

In fact we actually had to travel twice and we still won the Grand Final. And you're yapping about having to play three weeks in a row in Victoria? LOL.

Round 17 2009 - That result certainly mattered to Hawthorn whether you want to admit it or not.

It's a home and away game, whether it matters at all or not has nothing to do whether it's a do or die game.

Neither of those things have anything to do with how dynasties are judged. You've typed out a collection of individual awards which have nothing to do with team, and percentages which are superseded by team performance in crucial games. Dynasties are earned by playing well when it matters, which is why Geelong failed in 2008 and 2013 and why they fail the dynasty comparison. That's a fact.

Post reeks of Minnow over reach.

So much insecurity bundled up there.

If you had any pride in Geelong run, you'd be secure enough to admit that the Hawks had just pipped you.

Sadly, you don't seem to think that it stands up to comparison, so you slink away behind bluster.

A shame. I think that Geelong team proved themselves to be one of the best modern teams we've seen. Not the very best, but you did darn well.

That's some good head patting.

The catters are slobbering too much to read posts that aren't directed at them, so I'll let you in on a secret. Sympathy for their dynasty being diminished by the Hawks is a far, far more demeaning and powerful troll than gloating.

Had one flog at work so put out by my attempts to comfort them for their loss of dynasty, that he went home.

Poor thing
