Play Nice Geelong home final at GHMBA Stadium, is this an unfair advantage?

You don’t ‘earn’ a ‘home final’.

Read the finals regulations!

Collingwood have a better record away from the G than at it anyway, and a horrendous GF record...we would be better off playing anywhere but the G.

Serious question, are you an mp? Federal or state? Red, blue or independent? Keep avoiding the point you know you cannot answer because it evisicerate's your reasoning...

On the contrary, Geelong make an absolute killing out of home games at KP. They lost a s**tload being forced to play home games at Etihad.
They make a killing because they have a very very very generous tax payer funded stadium and stadium deal, without which they would be broke. If other clubs had such a subsidised deal they wouldn't have to sell home games or invest in pokies.

I agree atm that is the case, same for all 9 melbourne teams and the 8 interstate sides...only 1 team missing...

Thank you for proving Geelong's point!
If Geelong keep treating the MCG as an away venue there's no wonder why they haven't been able to get it done in the big finals.
There's nothing, even psychologically, that provides Geelong an advantage playing at GMHBA over Collingwod. I certainly wouldn't care. It's about getting as many of your fans to the game as possible.
I like what someone said before, a glorified training ground lol

WC finished 5th, they get a final in WA as a result.

Geel finished 1st, they get a final in Vic as a result + the double chance.

The following week, Geelong will once again get a final in Vic as a result of being the losing QF team...and play either WC or Essendon.

Dead wrong!

They get a home ground final

Coming from a club being propped up by the Tasmanian taxpayer.

How much of haw's own money have been put into the mcg or Launceston?....

Listen to this guy people. He knows the rules of the comp and probably also knows the holding the ball rule, unlike 90% of you plebs who watch A Current Affair and believe stuff you see on twitter.

When the team play 14 games there but don’t train on the ground, have their home facilities, etc?

It’s a totally different sort of advantage to a team playing at what is, by AFL standards, a glorified training centre.

And the hurt for Carlton supporters about getting railroaded out of Princes Park is still raw enough that it’s not even worth joking about. There’s absolutely no justification for playing games at KP and not PP other than different AFL commission attitudes and the relative bargaining power of the clubs at the time in question.
So the powerful Carlton Football Club with Ian Collins and John Elliot at the helm had less bargaining power then an almost insolvent Geelong Football club. Could it have something to do with Carlton being in the same city as the MCG with Docklands being built or just built v A single club city that needed to play at their traditional home for identity to remain relevant.

We did alright in 2011...remember that?

Yeah, now try do it again and quit crying about it. We certainly won't be when we don't get to play at Victoria Park or Olympic Park, our home ground :p

You are that far down the rabbit hole you can’t be saved.

Sydney often scheduled to play finals at Stadium Australia...not their preferred home ground.

Dogs, Saints, Essendon, North and Carlton all play majority of home games at Marvel...yet all will be scheduled to play at MCG, not their ‘home’ ground

Geelong in 2018 played 7 MCG games, Hawthorn an ‘MCG tenant’ played 9...that is a fecking neutral ground!

109% agree
Sort of joking about that as well. I'd want to play at the MCG every single chance we get. Invaluable experience for the big game that you can't get anywhere else, not even at a sea-side marquee venue.

Exactly! You seem to understand.
Not much, because the Vic government wouldn't prop us up, we got shafted from our home ground and now have to pay commercial rates of rent at the G and can't turn a quid for crowds less than 40k. Why do you think the Cats make a truck load of cash? Because you and I are funding it! You get a very very cushy deal down there and it's only fair you share the burden like we do of playing games outside your preferred ground.

Well, Geelong is also a different city.

Manchester and Liverpool are about 40km apart. City, United, reds, Everton and all other clubs in vicinity should be in one or two stadiums according to some melbourne club supporters.

The AFL have homogenised football in Melbourne, and now it’s accepted as the must way rather than the world-wide outlier it is

IF we make it past Essendon and IF Geelong lose in the first week (and if Richmond lose which would mean two finals in Melbourne SF week) I wouldnt be surprised if the AFL have the two teams play at GMHBA to shut the whinging up.
The AFL have confirmed the only Victorian venue to host finals in 2019 is the MCG.

Are wce having an away/neutral game against Ess in 2 weeks also? I won't ask what your iq is with logic and reason like that!
The AFL introduced home state finals because it wasn't fair for them to fly to Melbourne every week in September. The low iq twitter/facebook plebs of the footy world who yell baaalllll every 10 seconds and think dropping the ball is a free erroneously assumed this meant you get home ground finals, you don't . Eagles get lucky because their home ground happens to be the AFL's finals venue in that state. Collingwood likewise get lucky.

Carlton resisted moving under Elliott and even after he left.

After the salary cap issues, we were hit with a fine the AFL knew was unmanageable, which put us in the position of having to ask the AFL for a loan. That loan was given on the proviso that we stop playing home games at PP.

The process was overseen by... Docklands stadium CEO Ian Collins.

Members were given no say in the matter, and never have been. So yeah, it’s a bitter wound still, and it grates that 10 years later the AFL is suddenly all supportive of Geelong to the extent that they even got to play a final at a suburban ground.
