I am stoked we are playing at the G ..... but I don't think it's right.
End of the day the AFL does what it pleases and contradicts itself with each move.
I see wht they want to play at the G .... $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ .... but by rights, it should be at Kardinia Park.
Should have been there last year and the year before and the year before but no one batted an eyelid.

That's up to the AFL ... and they can end this debate now and say all future finals are att he G or Etihad, rather than picking and choosing.
Own worst enemy.
I remember when we couldn't play finals, except for the grand final, at the MCG.
It was fair and it was a given. No debate!

Been said before, but you can't on the one hand *request* the MCG as a secondary "home ground" for a couple of big games each year, then disown it completely as if the thought of playing a home game there is completely insulting. They want their biggest home games played at the MCG? They've got their wish, right?!

They have made the decision though. Every year it's at the G. The one exception was when geelong played same day as another final at the G so it wasnt physically possible.

People just dont like the decision all of a sudden.

It's not every year .... they play GWS instead of us, bank on it, the game would be played at Skilled.
Personally I don't care and accept the decision as do most.
It's a mall number of Geelong fans who actually are saying anything and a small number of Tiger fans being d****s trying to rub it in and deflect from what's important - the actual game.
A small number of Big Footy morons is not indicative of what the football world thinks.
The end!

Geelong: Anyone, anywhere, anytime...

Also Geelong: Unless it's Richmond at the 'G Sept 8, then **** that.

I once mistakenly called him a sydneysider, but RFC_Official has shown he is "one of us, one of us, one of us" and is adding to the sodium chloride overdose down corio way

All was forgiven for the Sydney quip, rfctiger74. I was under the impression the general public could access general public tickets during the general public sale. Seems that's a no-no. My honorary medallion to Lambys has been revoked.

WTF? The Cats have played a grand total of 1 final for 1 loss at Kardinia park in their entire history, all of a sudden you and the other Cat sympathisers are saying the decision is wrong? So exactly how are the ALF contradicting themselves with this?

How many times did Carlton play finals at Princes Park? And yes, I do mean excluding the war years. The legends stand was modern when it was built.

Why are we making special excuses for Geelong? Finals in Victoria are played at the MCG and if necessary at Etihad. If we're going to wring our hands about poor old Geelong then I expect you to be demanding we play the prelim/semi final at Punt Rd oval.

I saw some of those reply tweets to RFC_Official quip about typing in CATS instead of TIGERS.

Are the Cats fans the biggest bloody whinges in the competition or what.

Trust me any CATS fans reading this. TIGERS fans were choosing your allocated seats before RFC_Official made his little quip.

Port Adelaide premiership player Kane Cornes has slammed the AFL over the week one finals fixture.

Despite finishing higher on the ladder, Geelong has been listed to play its “home final” at the MCG instead of Simonds Stadium.

Cornes believes the decision is a massive free kick for the Tigers, who finished in third.

“This is the worst call of the year,” Cornes said on Sportsday SA.

“This is the biggest free kick to the Richmond footy club. Out of anything that has happened this year, this is the biggest free kick.

“You’ve gone from playing a game at the most difficult ground to win. Geelong…are 6-2 on their home deck.
“They beat Richmond there three weeks ago without Hawkins, without Selwood and without Duncan yet they’re forced to play in front of 95,000 screaming Richmond fans on Richmond’s home ground for the right to play in a preliminary final.

“What’s the point of having top four?”

Anyone else see this shit? Kane Cornes is the biggest flog going around, he definitely has something against Richmond. The same ******* thing happened last year with hawthorn but these campaigners didn't care then.

Can someone link me to the article Cornes wrote in 2013 when Sydney hosted Geelong at the MCG in the preliminary final? I mean what's the point of winning the minor premiership if you have to play the runner up in their home state in a prelim?

BECAUSE ...... home clubs in the VFL era were never allowed to play home finals, especially us (and when applicable Melbourne). We played a whole finals series in 1980, bar the grand final, at VFL Park. Along the way it changed .... Richmond could and did play home finals, Melbourne started playing home finals. It chaged in '87, the year West Coast and Brisbane came in. So by default or extension, Geelong should play home finals. Geelong are an exception, they are the ONLY Victorian team not to play its home matches at Etihad or the MCG. So why should 17 teams be able to ploy home finals on their home ground and one cannot??? Should GWS be made to play a home final at the MCG? WEst Coast made to play at Etihad in a hone final?

Why are Adeliade and Sydney not being made to play at the MCG next week?

So it's home 'state' and that's the official word from the AFL?
Than why did they grant Geelong a 'hone' final a few years ago?
Because Fremantle "threw" a game. Also the Cat's were playing a Perth side, not a Melbourne team with 70 odd thousand Members. Also yes the "official" word from the AFL is "State" not "Ground".

Well there was no need to play that game at Kardinia Park. Should have been Etihad or MCG ... AFL chopping and changing again.
I know I am the minority but have maintained for years - higher team should get a home ground final. If that means Richmond, Geelong, Bulldogs goes to Kardinia Park or Spotless, so be it!
As I said days ago, Geelong pretty much resigns itself to the fact it doesn't get home finals and didn't even press the issue.
And as stated earlier they have no fear of playing at the G either!

AFL is run under an Entertainment Business Model, not a Sporting one. Has been since the days of Ross Oakley, regardless of what may or may not be best for the Team that finishes higher. Money talks and Bullshit walks. It is written and so shall it be done. 90k+ and the MCG vs 30 odd K at Methdone Park, wouldn't have mattered what the Cats came out and did. All it would do is grind the AFL's gears and make the next chance of an AFL back scratch less. The Cat's are smart enough to know what side of their bread the butter is on.

Because that year there was 4 finals in Victoria that weekend.
