A very nice deal for the Cats here...

Free elite facility. Isn't Armstrong Creek the development in which Bomber had a stake?

http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/article/2011/11/30/294611_news.html

The area broadly termed "Armstrong Creek" will be approximately the size of Ballarat. Bomber allegedly owned part of this but it is part of a combination of many, many different developers all doing their bits in a very wide areas. Bomber allegedly part owned some land down there according to the Herald Sun. But half of Victoria probably (directly or indirectly) owns part of Armstrong Creek when you consider the size of the area and the spread of developers involved from small family owned developers to large listed developers.

So Bomber allegedly owns some of the town (its probably more accurate to say town rather than suburb as the whole thing is Ballarat sized) but the property that has been mentioned by the Herald Sun that he is involved with has nothing to do with this particular property. It would be funny Bomber sponsoring Geelong but doesn't appear to be the case.

ha ha.
And there's some dude having a smoke in the car park.

If that is what they are building then it's a bit of an eye sore to be honest.

They might want to chuck some trees up too - could get pretty chilly with the wind rolling through in July.

Still, it's free so it's a bloody good win.

And you get the unencumbered freehold, which is a massive bonus.

The suggestion from that bloke from the developer that the park may one day be home to Google or Apple is a bit of a laugh...

Theres actually two josh hunts. One running next to chappy and the other having a kick

And the third one is having a smoke in the car park, planning his next trip to Kokoda

so does he allegedly own some of the area?

I don't particularly trust the Herald Sun (or any paper's sports section) as a source on what people own and don't own especially when most of these things are covered in joint venture agreements, partnership agreements, companies, trusts etc that make it hard to really know the actual beneficial owner unless you have all the documentation. I don't doubt there is some truth to it but the specifics are hard to know and hence, cast doubt over the exact things.

FWIW Bomber's $10m pay day reported in those articles also got canned, didn't it? So the "fact" of Bomber making millions in that article (which from my memory treated that as fact) was a probability not fact that subsequently didn't end up happening. Hence, my use of allegedly rather than treating that article as "fact" especially when dealing about these type of things.

Is there any doubt that Cooky is the best CEO in Australian sports. The bloke has been able to arrange a deal for the Cats which see's them take ownership of a $8million facility.

Wonder why other teams that have built or are looking to build training facilities don't or haven't done a similar type of deal $8mill would work out to be what a 16 year second level sponsorship deal $500k per year

The Skilled Stadium cost blowout is a bit embarrassing, but no doubt this is a cracking deal. Especially when you see other clubs having to pump the members for cash to fund their developments

Blaming Cook for the cost stuff up is like blaming the Richmond hierarchy for Nathan Brown breaking his leg years ago
