For the youngest list in the comp (at the time) - a developing side, to actually have beaten the team that took all before them is a fair feat.

Beat it down all you want, but it wasn't a bad effort.

Love how Hawks fans talk up a 4 point win over a Geelong side missing the likes of Harley, S.Johnson, Ottens, Rooke and Selwood ie. 25% of the premiership side.

But yeah, it wasn't a bad effort. Pity you couldn't put up the same sort of effort when it counted later in the season. Guess it's safe to say Hawthorn peaked too early.
