Neale to GC.
May to Melbourne.
Hogan to Freo.

Gold Coast get an A-grade player who actually wants to be there.

Freo get a player they have been after for a while, filling an obvious need since Pavlich left and McCarthy not working out.
Lobb is going to help, but he's more a forward-ruck.

Melbourne get a big bodied brute of a stopper to anchor their defence.

What am I missing? Was a club playing hardball expecting to "win" the trade?

Gee Freo are showing themselves to be real pricks/amateurs in this trading caper aren’t they.
First they shaft Hogan, then they refuse to accept the reasonable offer of pick 5 for Neale from the Lions.

Peter Bell seems a little out of his depth here - hearing him crap on about “due diligence “ wrt to Hogan was vomit inducing, corporate gobbledygook stuff. Not only that he was using the term totally out of context, they weren’t pulling out of the “due diligence process” as he said, they simply couldn’t agree on a trade.

Personally i think it is but regardless Melbourne were ok to take pick 6 and a 2nd rounder from Freo but Freo then went and traded that pick 6 to Port, thus shutting themselvess totally out of the Hogan deal.
Not clever negotiating if you ask me.

Probably the issue with the foot injury but definitely have gone cold on him.
Don’t underestimate Peter Bell, he will make a huge difference at the Dockers.

I would have thought an “unfavourable medical report” would have been more apt rather than using “due diligence” was the reason

I don't doubt it. It just seems that Freo at any given time are struck with either poor decisions or just plain bad luck (e.g. Hogan's possible foot issues - if indeed this was the case).

Has anyone done any investigating at all into the deals that Carlton are receiving from GWS.
Too many to mention but since SOS has moved there as List Manager after being at GWS they have absolutely pillaged the Giants list without paying anything commensurate to what these players were drafted for initially!
I know the deal were they got Plowman, Lamb, Marchbank etc was an absolute joke.
yes i;m starting to echo other peeps thoughts on here that the 2 clubs who have cheated the most in the last 20-30 years are getting a huge leg up from those corrupt bozo's at AFL house.

Yeah I see where your coming from Jab, but even we payed for O'Rourke with pick 19.
Yes I know they've already delisted quite a few GWS spuds but look into more & you'll see Carlton have kept all their high end draft picks & still got players in from GWS.

- Look like getting Setterfield
- (and fasolo).

I wouldn't mind Hurley, Shiel, Merrett, Smith, Heppell, McDonald-Tipungwuti, Hooker... for starters... feels dirty saying that though...

Essendon are loaded with B-Grade A Grders.

Merrett is a ripper, I'd have him at the hawks.
Smith - battler who has realised tackling is his trick. Had a great season, but that's not the new norm.
Heppell - looks amazing 3 or 4 games a year
Hooker - hate the way he prances after taking a mark. Wouldn't want him.
Tippa - Had a great 2017, was really average/poor in 2018
