Injunctions are a bit different to ‘Gil blocked them’.
Unless he/someone blocked them via an injunction? Or maybe he's threatened to blacklist anyone who writes about it. There are so many stories that don't get printed for whatever reason, and I know Franklin has benefited from this more than once.
I'm not saying this one is true, but it's not outside the realm of possibility.
Who are Dylan Howard, Ricky Nixon and Tom Morris?..And I don’t really buy the blacklist thing. People have written incredibly scathing stuff about the AFL and haven’t been banished. Michael Warner has written a book dedicated to poor boardroom culture at the AFL and clubs and is still able to do his job.

I agree anything is possible - however injunctions have generally been used in drug cases. When footy players get done for assault it hits the press - no matter how good the player is.

not sure on Gils watch (i suspect so) but 100% the blacklist threat was/is real in the demetriou era.
there are many stories 'in the can' that never see the light of day
Why couldn't he be doing a buddy and taking the 3rd strike holiday?
I agree, nothing about Dustin Martin over the past few years has given the impression he'd be acting up anymore. Even Swanny has spoken about how he's sort of grown out of hanging with him in US clubs and all that stuff. Dusty seems like he's become quite a placid, thoughtful and reflective bloke as he matures.Or he could be, you know, grieving the death of his father.
I still find it hard to stomach but I agree that Voss is the only one in that poll that comes close to Hodgey. Oh and that would be John Worsfold not josh
A poll on the HS asking the greatest captain of the modern era, at the moment Voss is leading Hodge with 26% and 23% respectively. If any captain is going to be put ahead of Hodge on the podium, Voss is the only guy I can stomach.
The most baffling thing is that Richmond nuffies have come out of the woodwork to vote Cotchin up to 3rd place with 13%. There but for the grace of Dustin Martin!
There's also an option for a "Josh Worsfold (WCE)" which gave me a chuckle.
I know who Woosha is I just love a good typo that slips through to the keeperI still find it hard to stomach but I agree that Voss is the only one in that poll that comes close to Hodgey. Oh and that would be John Worsfold not josh
So I guess you were only joshing thenI know who Woosha is I just love a good typo that slips through to the keeper
I don’t doubt some things can be quashed, particularly outing details of drug users - but if Dustin Martin assaulted an Uber driver and it was known by the press as this text message claims then it would definitely be out there now. There’s plenty of press outlets that wouldn’t give the slightest fu** what Gil McLachlan says.
Dad?So I guess you were only joshing then
I’m not sure that’s true.If somebody assaulted an Uber driver then the press would be all over it and there is not a damn thing Gil could do to stop it.
I’m not sure that’s true.
AFL accreditation puts the food on the table of every journo in town. Lose that and you’re very much scratching around for scraps.
HS doesn't, but Warner has been frozen outThere are plenty of media organisations that couldn't give the slightest fu** about AFL media accreditation that would absolutely still generate lots of clicks if they put this story out there if it's as true and as widely known in the press as the silly rumour suggests. The Daily Mail would publish this in a heartbeat - and I doubt they have any sports reporters clamouring to be invited to coaches press conferences. You'll find plenty of Daily Mail stories about the JDG assault case - not so much a match report of Collingwood's latest game.
As I put in the scandals and rumours thread - journalists put information out there regarding Lethlean and Simkiss which was far more damaging to the AFL, and Gil himself, and they and their organisations have not faced repercussions. Michael Warner wrote The Boy's Club and I dare say the Herald Sun doesn't have any issue getting access still.
Journos hold back stories all the time based on an “understanding” that it’s not to get out. Usually When mental health / etc is involved but sometimes bigger scandals. Sometimes they’re just held back for a couple of weeks, sometimes years. There are plenty of media organisations that couldn't give the slightest fu** about AFL media accreditation that would absolutely still generate lots of clicks if they put this story out there if it's as true and as widely known in the press as the silly rumour suggests.
