There is far too many people with short sighted opinions when discussing the roads vs public transport debate, a "what will it do for me?" attitude. Set in their ways so much that no matter what the government of the day does they will always want more roads built to suit their own agenda. My favourite is people who don't use public transport that complain about their tax dollars funding it.
They also complain about the congestion on the roads which without public transport would be worse.
The biggest issue is it's seen as an either or propositionThere is far too many people with short sighted opinions when discussing the roads vs public transport debate, a "what will it do for me?" attitude. This is the flaw in democracy. Governments have to make decisions about what's best for the most people (e.g. A 2.5 billion dollar infrastructure) and they may have done all the reports, investigation analysis etc to ensure it's the right and best thing to do - but that's not enough. They also have to sell the message to the public in a media landscape where rhetoric >> data. There is far too many people with short sighted opinions when discussing the roads vs public transport debate, a "what will it do for me?" attitude. Ditto. There was such pressure going in and was a scrappy game orchestrated by the master of tactics 'if you know what I mean'. 2014 was ecstasy in comparison - there was so much on the line - with the defection of Buddy, etc., and we played out of our skin. The biggest emotion I felt in 2013 was relief! 2014 was the celebration
Yep. As an event for me it paled in comparison to 08 and 2014 which were both awesome celebrations. 2013 was Clarko just doing the gritty thing to get the job done. The way we played in that grand final was not that of a side that was on a mission to tear a side apart, but of a side that was focused with every player knowing his role so strictly and carrying it out in a methodical fashion.Ditto. Now add in media with their own agenda either for or against global warming, capitalism etc, and most of the media we get in this country has to pander to advertisers as wellThis is the flaw in democracy. Don't worry - I understand the role of the media and public discourse, especially as a mechanism to shame the dishonest and corrupt - but the fact that people with no experience in running a health system, or infrastructure, or education system, etc are the ones electing those who will can have strange outcomes.

2014 was just ruthless.

You make bio?You simply do what your own conscience can bear. I have invested in solar power, double glazing, insulation and changed my house to increase the passive heating and cooling capacity. We try to use energy sparingly and don't run aircon unless it gets uncomfortable with just the ceiling fans going. However I also drive an old diesel 4wd that I use off road when I can but it is my daily driver too and my wife drives a Territory. To ease my guilt I also make a little bio-diesel for my old beast. I try to encourage other people to also be energy conscious and while I could do more I don't think enough people really give f&@k.
Can I be a little pious, sure I can, do I feel like a hypocrite sometimes, yep. I don't like waste, but you do need to live.
