God, I'm a sucker for Serong. He's going to be a top-10 player in the league. I'm not sure if he's going to break through this year into the top echelon of midfielders, but he's currently putting up such form. I would give up the world to have him at Hawthorn, though we all know what happened when we did that with O'Meara... Anyway, that's in the past. Darcy is definitely a top-4 ruck, and he'll be unlucky not to make the All-Australian team based on his current form.

I dislike how Reiwoldt slams the knee/extended leg in the back of anyone standing in front of him while supposedly in the act of marking

He does it every single time and in most cases it’s without any intention to mark the ball, only to smash the pack, bring the ball to ground and to hurt.

I’m surprised that there’s never been an attempt to change that and make it a free if it’s not marked

Riewoldt used to take marks that way but he hasn't left the ground for the past 3 years and I agree, it's absolutely glaring. Unfortunately you can do pretty much whatever so long as you get a fingertip to it.

It’s especially bad when Lynch is out there. Because he deliberately jumps under the ball to clear the way for Lynch to come in behind him.

Least when Lynch isn’t there he has to try and mark it himself.

I do wonder how well Freo is managing his knee. If they haven’t quite got it right it would definitely be impacting him.

I said it at the start of the year. This Richmond team really is a replica of our team from 2017–2021. Top-quality players in Taranto (Mitchell) and Hopper (O'Meara), but are lacking any sort of dynamic in most parts of the ground, especially the midfield (where they're also lacking class and skill), and have players right at the end of their careers with average youngsters who probably won't amount to be players that can catapult the Tigers back to the top, except for maybe Sonsie, Gibcus, Cumberland, Ralphsmith, and Maurice Rioli Jnr. They're going to be stuck in no man's land for 5 years, with perhaps one good year seeing them come top 4 like we did in 2018. Oh, well. Richmond has had their run, like we did, and made the most of it.

How many teams dominate an era, fall out of touch and then come back and win it again.
It doesn't happen.

I’d take him in our current forward line.

He can still take an overhead mark which most of our forwards struggle with (Lewis aside).

Cotchin on the other hand is cooked.

I must confess I’ve mainly watched the third quarter - seemed to be a bit slow on several occasions but shortly after I posted that he kicked his third goal after a nice mark.
