You were the one who mentioned the Lions I am just giving you the facts in regards to the Lions. I was living in Brisbane at the time and those that supported the Bears were pretty pissed off with having to be merged with the basket case that were the Lions and they were rightly justified when that spoon came. Spin it all you like, but without Lethal taking the helm they would have been an average side.
And you have probably missed the biggest reason why Brisbane achieved what they did - 1 x Jonathan Brown, who joined their list in 2000 and a father son Roy boy. He was the catalyst for their 2001 flag and subsequent flags.

Oh goody, another person who can't admit they got it wrong. I lived in Brisbane at the time too so I was following what was happening with the Bears/Lions.

Time to waste….
So 2004-2023 a nice round 20 years and avoiding the anomaly of lethal 3 flags

345 coaching seasons 62 of those by coaches in subsequent gigs. A touch under 18%

One flag in that time malty at collingwood so 5% success overall though there would be a few runners up too

For first gig coaches, 19 flags from 283 starts at an almost 6% statistical chance of winning
Subsequent gig, 1 flag from 62 starts almost 2% statistical chance add in 01-03 and its closer

Geelong hawthorn port sydney west coast never employed a subsequent gig coach. Perhaps a clearer
factor they share 13 of the 20 flags.
13 from 100 starts Get a gig at those clubs and your statistical chance is 13% each year

Totally ignoring caretakers

The leftover clubs, first time coach starts? 6 flags from 183 starts? About 3%
Ignoring caretakers is a little problematic but your analysis is good. For example, Goodwin coached a senior game at Essendon so technically is a second time coach at Melbourne where he won a premiership. Obviously, not too many caretakers win flags while a caretaker but a few go on to continue coaching the club eg rhys shaw. Do you count scott and shaw as coaches in 2019 or just scott? Gets complicated quickly.

But the broad point is true in that it is rare for any coach to win a flag. By cutting off at 2004 you ignore lethal and blight, who combined for 5 flags in 8 years. Would completely change the percentages but not the overall rarity for any coach to find success.

Is it too much to hope for Norf to end their 18 game losing streak this Saturday, and finish off the Bombres' season in the process? Particularly with it being Ben Cunnington's last game? They ran them* close earlier in the season.

Intentionally fighting with soccer fans online is hilarious

I watch all sports, and seeing them try to pot the afl, and simply replying "why does it matter what anyone watches?" Makes them lose their mind

Sad really, because the aggression us what turns people off that sport

I’m looking at my figures now, and of course there is the 2023 premiership whic will probably be a first time coach. One flag for 18 coaches is 5.5%. If voss somehow won it that figure would be boosted significantly

Another factor now compared to pre 2000 is there is a much bigger pool of assistant coaches to choose from. Probably a big factor

He is a good player!
Depends what sort of deal they locked him in to. Feel like there's always someone getting shafted in a long term deal, whether that's no upward mobility in salary for the player if they start really excelling or overpaying for a bloke who gets too comfortable and falls off.

"Is it nil-all already?" gets them going.

I find that they have this bizarre inferiority complex and act shocked when someone legit doesn’t rate their sport. Craig Foster complex if you will eh Steven Gerrard.

It's such a strange obsession though (at least in australia)
I just don't understand why they can't accept people like different things
