It does make a lot of sense to be honest given the facts mentioned about their access to Casey for the other grades etc. that we did not have and is a surer and more cost-effective path than their other plans currently.

But some feelings etc. would need to step aside to abandon the larger plans and move into another team's old premises.
Melbourne need to end the alignment (takeover with casey)
I'm local to casey fields, you wouldn't know the demons even have a team there. They do bugger all in the community, and their training days it's a get in get out situation, with no engagement with local primary schools etc

Even local footy - i tried to organise registration for a vflw trial day for a couple of the girls at the footy team i coach, casey told me that melbourne organise it all, and despite several enquiries, not one melbourne administrator bothered to contact me. Instead we had players try out for box hill (over an hour away), and have 2 players with the saints (again, and hour away)

No suprise that culture filters down to the players. Bombers, port and Melbourne are my most hated clubs all for different reasons

Entitled. See 1996. Still thought they were superior despite being a basket case for decades.

Agree.
I feel like that started to become the case when we were winning flags, we lost a bit of what made the family club the family club. Since covid though, it's definitely come back, with the players really engaging with the fans and doing a lot of work off the field in the community. May be Andy gowers influence? May be recruiting (recruiting less players who have had smoke blown up their clackers since birth?)

Maybe the differing attitudes of our former coach & present coach

I think that’s a bit unfair. Clarko had had faults - as do all people. But he did a lot for the community and for building a good atmosphere within the club the last year or two not withstanding.

Yeah sorry I didn’t mean it that way.
Clarko was great for doing things in the community.

I was more referring to the fan engagement & Mitchells attitude towards the media.

& again I’m not really putting shit on Clarko, I just think Sam is better at it.

Sad to hear of the passing of Geelong legend Michael Turner.

Was a great player to watch & did a lot for young footballers in that region.
He really was a great player. The first time I went to Kardinia Park in 1977, I watched the Turner v Ablett battle on the wing. They were both as quick as anyone around. Ablett perhaps a little faster, but Turner won the battle and the Hawks thrashed the Cats. Saw a number of their battles during the 70's and their play was always entertaining.

No surprise. Remember last time we played Tigers complete sore loser his team was getting pumped so was just looking to hurt the opposition physically when near the ball rather than focusing on actually getting the ball.

At the game when this happened thought Newk was gone for weeks waved away trainers didn’t go off ……. that is being tough you big buffoon Balta!!!!

He might get an opportunity for his true career calling - placing stickers on fruit

I just read a big piece in the media about Joel Selwood's dodgy deal.

How typical that there's absolutely nothing in the media about this dodgy

I know some don’t like us commenting on the Cats but The Age posted an article of Joel Selwood earning 15% on a 100k loan to a sponsor. Can anyone post the article as behind paywall. Again crickets from media about this too. Thought it would be news as seems dodgy as
The same people who don't like posts about the Cats probably won't welcome anyone wondering aloud where the repercussions are from this story either, nor understand why some observers might be waiting for the follow up stories, or the AFL response, given they were so confident that the media was all over it. You were right all along of course. At this stage it looks like it's another Geelong story that's been buried. Perhaps next time try saying the story involves a large Vic AFL club which could be Essendon but you'll confirm that when you've finished the article and then everything will be fine.
