I would’ve thought dogs would be chips in for Rowell come end of contract this year. Would losing Smith/Macrae/Daniel have freed up enough cap space for it?

Perfect Libba replacement
Butters grew up a Dogs nuffie.

And if we’d have still wanted him he’d be with us.

Wait so you’re telling me we could’ve got a pick 15-20, sat on our hands till deadline like Geelong did and gotten Bailey Smith but pulled out of the deal ?

Outside of salary cap reasons I’m surprised we wouldn’t have gone after him.

Nope, I’m telling you his options were limited, which was why he was open to going to the Suns at one point. Cats were well aware of his issues, but have backed themselves into get him right/keep his issues out of the press.

Is Luke Breust the greatest small forward of all time? What criteria do we use to evaluate that question?

Betts, Milne, Bruest are all the clear top 3 for mine. Statistically I think they’re a fair bit ahead of any other smalls.

What order you have them in is a total lottery but I’d go Milne, Betts, Bruest. Although only one of them has a premiership medal (or 3)

It seems ‘of all time’ often means ‘ the ones I’ve seen’

But historically it can be tough comparison as dunstall would be a med fwd at best these days

Matthews, Bartlett, Brad Johnson, Daicos

Bruest comfortably top ten for productive small forwards. Set to overtake a few in the list

Statistically, he's nowhere near the other 3.
Yes Cyril did things as good or better than anyone. Yet from a Hawthorn perspective he sits between Ben Dixon and Paul Hudson for goals kicked and the latter played far less games for Hawthorn and kicked another 210 goals at the dogs.

Tackles is one area Cyril beats them all out on though. (Breust has more total but Cyrl far more per game). Paul Puopolo is up there with Cyril as a small forward though.

For those closer to the club than me what does it take to get Cyril back? He’s so much of my joy and what I want to expose my daughter too so she shares that joy I just want him back as a hawk. If I can help in any way just tell me how he’s the best and a deliver of joy.
I believe that the club and some of his ex-premiership teammates are working on mending the bridges. Whether it happens is another thing.

Probably everyone needs to get the better half on side with the club first.

Thanks that’s great to hear obviously not something I expect to be reported in the mainstream. Hard to think how we could love the club more but this is clearly one way if at all possible.

You don't consider Cyril a small forward?

Yeah absolutely. As a whole package he was probably a better overall player and had far more weapons IMO. The 3 I listed have all kicked double the goals of Cyril though unfortunately, and that’s really hard to go past if you’re trying to rank them.
