I think that is if you opt out of standing room and by the time it comes around to you in the ballot that the only "best available" are standing room, you miss out with no guarantee of a ticket

But how is it possible that the best available are standing room when there are still 5000 tickets to be allocated in the ballot.

Good question. It would be great if the club could clarify this before Thursday. I've got three kids and I don't know what would be worse - taking them to the game where they can't see anything or telling them we missed out on tickets because I didn't tick the standing room box.

It's illegal to re-sell 'at a premium'. So, read into that however you will. I read that as 'you can re-sell it, but not with the intention of profit'.
cheers mate, I saw that line on there too. I just pulled the trigger and bought an AFL Package ticket.

Fingers crossed on the ballot or my brother being able to get me a corporate connection ticket...

Either way, if we make it I know I won't miss out. Stressful times.

Hope you didn't pay by credit card...

Yes, very stressful!

Well done I hope the Dogs can keep up their end of the bargain.

If we qualify to register for tranche 3 in the ballot, does 1 membership = 1 ticket or can you get 2 tickets per membership?

If I got standing room I'd be peeved off too. Really

We are in the same boat. I'm going to tick standing room and if we are unlucky enough to get standing room I'll sell them off and stay home with the kids......and regret forking out years of social club family membership.

Do worry category 2 members standing room option is just a throw away line if some goes wrong.
We will get a seat but good if the club can clarify this.

Hope everyone gets tickets. I'm a bit sad that my membership doesn't allow me to enter the ballot. Unless I find a ruthless scalper who wants to take advantage of me, I'm going to have to live vicariously through (hopefully) all of you if we make the GF. GOOD LUCK ALL.
As of right now there's still Cat 6 packages available on the AFL website...

In the email from the club, geez... $1,600 package for the big one

I saw on the net that 5000 standing room tickets are allocated for the GF. At worst, that means 2500 for each competing club but surely some of those tickets that are given away via radio and other competitions are standing room. Assuming the worst, if 12000 tickets are required for category 1 and 2 members out of the 15000 allocated, if everyone in those categories take up the offer (which probably will not happen due to a range of circumstances), at most 500 standing room tickets will be given to category 2 members. I do not think people have too much to worry about but I will be ticking the box (reluctantly) to accept best available including standing room as I would be devastated if I miss the only GF in my 50 years of following the dogs. However as MYOB said, will be really angry if I get standing room and category 3 members get a seat. I hope that the club can clarify how this all works before Thursday.

Somebody is wrong

you would think so, but the same thing was on the accessible seat member booking form. I had to other member barcodes on my form, but the same check box appears for those requesting reserved seats.

So hypothetically if it came to that, I could be in a wchair bay and those two could be forced to stand, even though they are SC members and preferred seating.

The issue is that the AFL still has to allow a cap of public access seats, this means that very well yes - you could end up with standing room as a SC member. where previously the premise of the SC was always a guaranteed ticket with a seat up until the terms were changed. Other than that - next year if you want a guaranteed seat in the GF if we make it you either need to

- purchase the SC with Sutton uplift
- buy a top dog kennel cotorie membership (which I may consider doing with someone next season - about $2000 for 2 people ($1k each) but gets you more events than the EJ CS
- player sponsor, which we do a cut down version minus tickets (which again I may consider splitting with someone next year)

Thoughts/advice:

Ballot on Thursday as cat 3. Could miss out. Or-
Mate offered to buy ticket as full afl member. Has risks.

Thoughts ?
Same boat as me, Priority 3 entering the ballot.

I bought a ticket off the AFL site for an obscene amount of $995 in the hope that I'm successful in the ballot and can then sell this AFL ticket for what I paid for it, or as close as possible. If i'm not successful I'll roll with this one.

Might be a good idea to hedge your bets, as some other more informed posters here advised me...

Sorry, not sure what you mean by this.

This was last year's ticket allocation model, will be the same this year IMO

The above could change the numbers for competing clubs depending on who is in it.

For example

Tickets to a Dogs v Cats GF would be the hardest to get
then,
Dogs v Swans
GWS v Cats
GWS v Swans
