I think it's just sour grapes that the perennial losers of the competition won the flag. They can't handle up having nice things, so they're trying to undermine it.

But the way I see it, nobody would care about this stuff if we hadn't dominated the competition last year. If we had finished in our dutiful position in the bottom half of the ladder, there would have been one article on why we continue to be losers, and that would've been it til the season starts. The fact that people want a piece of us is related to our success. It happens to all successful entities - it brings out some resentment. I know I won't be letting it spoil my enjoyment of last year. Sure, there is always a bit of dirty laundry in an organisation this size, but overall, I don't think it's that bad - otherwise we wouldn't have been able to pull together in the way we did and be so successful.

It's a shame that Dr Zee left the way he did. I like him, but I think he's just a different cat, and he wasn't compatible with Goody's approach. Such is life. Go Dees.

As a fellow Doctor (Zoidberg), do you have any insight into Dr Zee?

It’s just muckraking from the Hun aided by the usual delusional idiots on/outside the board that think they’re bigger than the club.

Seems to me Goodwin may have had a few issues in his personal life but I doubt it was out of control, particularly when he was instrumental in booting Watts and Hogan out of the club for similar reasons. Secondly, if you put the context of him being under stress in his personal life (divorce) and being under extreme pressure in his job + the 2020 covid hubs, is it any real surprise he had some terse words with a club doctor?

I guess they achieved their desried results of clicks and copies sold, I await the next beatup on the next team before the season starts.

Scully yes, Judd I disagree on, well sort of. I think had we managed to land Judd we probably don't end up becoming a basket case, we probably would have ended up making finals a few times without ever threatening to win the premiership, basically we would have ended up like Carlton. It's sad but we really had to get into a really bad mess to end up where we are today.
So, let me ask the question.
After 50 plus years of dismal failures, on and off the field... don't you think we became what we are now, partly because we did hit bottom earth.
I suggest, that after bottoming right out, it gave the AFL and ourselves the impetus to make change, all around this old and lame club.

I think its like the forest after a bush-fire, all the new growth on burnt trees; and all the new growth from seedlings sprouting, following the rain.

Sorry MM. I didn't read you whole post thru.

Wonder if they know who was leaking this stuff. I love Kate Roffey so far and she's recommended us retain the current board for stability, but was it one of the board members sending this stuff on?

Would make more sense someone on the outer trying to destabilise.

I'll be happy to move on from Glenn Bartlett entirely. Dude does not like admitting fault for anything. Not suggesting he was involved in this though, I have no idea.

I know I was screaming out for some fresh MFC content.. but yeesh what a whole lot of nothing.

Still, we're reigning premiers, so about what you'd expect i guess

pretty obvious I thought in light of recent news about our board being a bunch of absolute w***ers, you called for a puff piece lol

just need to take a moment to recognize that the AFL (specifically Cal Twomey) adjudged Christian Petracca the best player in the AFL, and there are dees supporters out there questioning whether Clayton Oliver might be the better player.

How ****ing good is that.... my god we are blessed

I reckon Clayton was best on for our silly season match just now. Brown also in great marking shape.

This all makes me want to cry. I’m going to watch the GF tonight with triple M or something

Also big improvement over the last 12 months is that Clarry and Trac play very well together. One digs out the ball from the pack (Clayton mostly) and the other finds space and they are usually aware now of where the other is. Clarry is also better at finding a bit of space with some burst speed to give himself better options for dishing it off.

In 2019 I wanted to kill him and everyone else in the entire world

Makes it ridiculously hard for oppo teams to clamp down on both of them too. When we played the Lions in H&A they did a pretty good job in the first half but in the second both of them got off the chain and no surprise we ended up running away with it.

Is Clarry the biggest beneficiary of having Burgess? Back when Clarry was hand balling backwards and sideways 1-2m to unsuspecting, stationary team mates he was pretty trim. He’s an absolute bull now, which used to only be said of Petracca.

Whole midfield looks properly #connected now.

Viney in the finals series was the most standout of this. Felt like we could never trust him to use space effectively and he was always just going to be a battering ram, but my god he worked well in tandem with Trac and Clayton in the finals.

Was like they realised they could trust each other and finally stopped butting heads with each other to all try and win the ball

Agree wholeheartedly. Viney was great all finals and I don't remember any 'bees to the honey's moments where he, Clarity and Trac were 3 feet from each other trying to get the ball.

I've started watching the replay of the North game and Sparrow looks to have a bit of zip about him too, to go with his strength and big swinging... Kick.

Sparrow is best 22 now. His finals series was actually quite understated. I thought he was fantastic. Just keep playing the kid and watch him get better and better. I'd love to see him take some more centre bounces. So much potential and growth still to come from this group. JJ, Sparrow, Bowey, Riv, Koz, Petty and Jackson is a bloody good core of kids coming through. I still think there is room for Chandler somewhere as well. I reckon he has shown enough to suggest he too can be among this talented young group.
