id have to hit the booze as hard as I ever have and get someone to pay me $100 before id even consider it.
When i was a teen, so would have I. Although never hid behind the bottle. But lets say I went from a doormat, to what you see here in text. but much to late in life, to effect my life enough.

But lets say, after a lot of therapy, years later, I learnt a lot, and beleived in myself, and thru connetions, felt the requirement. Sick of being the losers, lets just say.

Jockeys spur on they're horse, don't they.?

Can't even make fun anymore this is call a doctor levels of delusion.
I don't think you would know, or be capable of understanding, tk.

And most of your hostile black and white comments over a long time, suggests a deep distrust of most things in life, and of a great deal of contempt for others thoughts.

It must be a sad place to live, inside your shell.

Yeah look this has been a fun chat that's meandered across a few threads but I think we'll need to draw a line under it. There are actual things happening in the world and even a game coming up to talk about!

Also on (actual MFC) board things was there a result from the recent election? I feel like I saw something but don't remember. Probably the old crew got back in fine so nothing noteworthy to speak of.

Essendon and Carlton supporters are intolerant of failure and they let the club know in certain terms. they get quite in your face with the club when failing becomes too normal.
And things happen from that.
Which is why they’ve been such powerhouses the past 20 years

No, as I am only a small catalyst, at the start, enabling others to carry on momentum to a much bigger shift, in the right direction.
That initial nudge of the culture was shortlived for me, and others needed to carry the ball. They did some what, but not nearly enough, and after another say 8 years, we were drifting back again. sadly to me.

my time is done and well truly cooked.

But a good word here or there, sometimes helps, but rarely hurts matters.
Butterfly effect

SH, ahead of the game against West Coast, could you please tell Ben Brown to boot 15 goals this week? Once you do, I'll put in a call with my bookie and cash in because I know it'll happen if you use your magical influence on players. Thanks in advance :)

It doesn't work like that. He has to tell Ben Brown that other players see him as clown who isn't enough of a man to eat a steak. And that he should show his toughness and a mean streak. Then he'd give Brown a punch in the arm and send him on his way.

That will inspire Brown to go out and break Fred Fanning's record.

Just saw this where Jack Watts said Neeld changed the game plan half way through the first round in 2013 :drunk:

Watts recalled the day former Demons coach Mark Neeld threw up the game plan mid-game during the first match of the 2013 season

“I think it was three-quarter time or even halftime of round 1 against Port Adelaide. We were down by 60-70 points, we were doing the ‘Clarko cluster’ sort of defence, not playing on a man but taking an area. We did that for the entire summer – out the door, round 1.

“(Neeld said) Man on man – if you get beaten, you’ll be dropped next week.”

The conversation also needs to take place in an elevator, with Paul Roos present for verification/validation purposes.

I have done, now and then, occasionally thru the decades.

In 2001, when a certain player who copped it in the 2000 GF... was about to front his nemisis again in coming match. I had a quiet word striaght after training, I asked him come outside, and I suggested he was seen by Essendon as soft, and timid; and that if he changed, he could one day, maybe lead the club.

That week he played his best game for the club. And from memory, I think we won the game.
But the biggest pleasure was to see his courage, spread right across the game. BOG imo.

Also in earlier times, just Pre our march to vfl stardom, I had words with a player and the team, at the long break.
...... It was about the culture, of that time, and how frustrating and how disappointing things were. The team was silenced.
Within weeks, the side started to play to a higher level.

I questioned they're attitude and desire.
The very next season, our club started to go on a march of our own. and I had something to do there also, in the first half of season to mid season.

I won't go into detail as I would give myself up. Lets say, Journalistic privilege.
Cringe

I thought the 'Fritz' thing last year was a one off, but it seems you're truly unhingedSome would no doubt say that

"I told him to do that"

Ha, well if the success of Jamar improvement and a young leader from 2001, the improvement back half of a new coaches 1st season, and marching forward in the next are all not detriments, but improvements in players aggression if their footy; then I may well be unhinged.

Some would definitely say that, I've had friends say I was definitely 'different'.

Even back in indoor cricket days in the 1980's, when we decided to change captain every match, share it around, and we could see one team blitzing all others from the first ball.
And unfortunately for me back then, it was my turn; now I wasn't as self believing in myself back in those days as today, but my creative mind was starting to wake up, about that time.

I could see this team was getting away to blinders from the first over, putting opponents into desperation from the start. I thought thru the coming week I would stifle their attack, by changing my opening bowler pair, holding them back, having my main strike bowling pair come into the came as the second pairing... starting the game with my controlling bowlers to open our bowling attack. Line and length and slowish, using variation in pace, line and length.

Stifling their offence. Sound familiar.?

They're offence got away to a really poor start, putting them under pressure; and I then had our usual strike bowlers, let loose at they're second pairing of batters. And they scored poorly.

We won the game well, and went on to top spot. And my creative thinking was vindicated. I took a fair bit from that. and the traditional thinkers of our team shook their heads in an amazed confusion.

How many can say they've had an AFL coach, come to them as a player and ask how they could improve their kicking.? Hell, even I was amazed, back then.
But there was something there that I hadn't believed in myself, that had these players trusting me and asking for my opinion.

My ways are different to most, but then again, I have learnt since those days, that most successful people are different, to the traditional thinkers.

The Russian did have a great second half of his career - even made the AA side.

I always wondered what the firestarter was.
It was after a late first half ball up, close to the boundary, the opposition ruck went up against Russian, and knocked the russian backwards on his feet, he wen t ack about 4 to 5 metres... actually it had to be pre Qtr time, as I spoke to him as he walked back to the centre with I think it was Blease if I recall.

I spoke to russian and said simply to him. "Don't Let Them Have The Psychological Advantage". I would say that the Russian would have been a little embarrassed, in front of teammate, but also the message delivered with a little sting is one not forgotten easily.

His remainder of the game was a bit noticeably better, and coming matches he improved to the point of starting to get noticed for form.

It was just a little something to reinforce him to have a bigger go (personally), and that embarrassment awaited for doing less (in his own conscience).

He went from strength to strength and became our No 1 ruck, following on. He was close to getting de listed, prior.
