Changing subject slightly, but we're currently on a 62 game streak of conceding less than 100 in a match.

From what I can see the only other team that's bettered that in the past 90 or so years won 5 flags in 6 years - I think you know who that was.

Given 2020 it's a bit of a cheat figure - and we've been lucky at times (see last week for reference) - but otherwise rarified air.

And now that I've pointed it out, watch it end in the next few weeks as a team eventually gets a hold of our defence...
I don’t think any team could pull it off without a bit of luck. But this is also a reflection of scores in the sport getting lower and lower. The ‘quality’ or stinginess of the best defence in the comp will get greater and greater over time.

Think you can really only count the games from last year and this year. 2020 absolutely shouldn't count.

Don't disagree hence my comment about it being a cheat number, as extrapolated out if we conceded 80 then that's 100 in full game time. That happened against the Dogs (80) and Port (83) in 2020.

However we could phrase it another way - every team has conceded at least 100 points in a match since round 23 last year - longest current streak for the rest of the comp would be Fremantle at 16.

My question would be how many other teams did not concede 100+ points in 2020?

Carlton, Geelong, Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Collingwood, Sydney, Essendon and Gold Coast all had matches conceding 100 points or more in 2020. North came close (99).

Remarkable. It’s a flawed method of scaling, but in a regular season North would then have not conceded a score higher than 124. Would have to be rare for a 17th placed team. We conceded 126 and 130 in 2019 but there were very different factors at play

We conceded 8 scores above 124 in 2013 lol. Actually conceded just two 123s in 2014, guess we just couldn’t score for shit that year, but Roos did prevent blowouts.

16th, 17th, 17th, 13th, 11th, 9th, 4th, 17th, 9th, 1st. Remarkable really. I love a good reminiscence.

There were some really strange matches that year, like both teams finishing with a score in the 30's, which translates into something in the 40's in a full game - which just doesn't happen, even in the shittest weather.

My 2c worth is that the players simply weren't tired enough to let up easy scores at the end of quarters compared to a full game, hence it led to more than 20% reduction in scores. Even with some of the short turnaround times between games.

Yep that’s very astute I think. Easier to focus on holding those structures for 16 minutes at a time too.

Not sure if this is the place for it but Eliza Mcnamara is out for the AFLW season with a spinal fracture after a weightlifting accident.

Get well soon.

Sounds like ****ed accident but surgery went well and long term she should be ok. She's become an important player. Hope it's a straightforward and speedy recovery.

Just went into the LJ thread on the D&T board. Its 50 Fremantle supporters debating Danster and Trav. And seems to have been this for the last couple of months. Unbelievable.

I know right? I love good chat on all things trading but it’s made a legitimate debate on a high profile player become so excruciating.

Freo “Jackson’s uncontracted, you’ll take what we give. Rory Lobb is worth a top 10 pick, Griffen Logue is worth a top 10 pick because they are under contract. Pick 15 is a good pick.”

danster “Three first rounders for Jackson.”.

Freo “You’re wrong.”.

danster “No, you’re wrong.”.

That for over 100 pages.

Jake Melksham had 2 less tackles against port than Ben Browns had all season
