Was going to start a new thread but thought I would ask the question in here first.

Supercoach Draft

Some mates and I wanted to start a league where all our inital teams would be chosen based on a draft style selection process.

Therefore no team would start off with an identical player.

I have heard of people doing this in the past and was interested to know how they went about it.

My mates and I have been doing this for near on ten years now (we haven't always used Supercoach or it's points, but our own scoring system). In it's most basic form our players were selected on match day in specific positions that only scored the points relevant to that position. Ie forwards only scored from goals and behinds, midfielders only scored from possessions etc.

We have an awesome Draft night, drawing from the hat for draft picks. We had an official scorer who would record all selections as they are made and then submit team sheets.

Selections work up and back, ie if you have the first pick of round one you get the last pick of round two. It's quite nerve racking as the selections get closer and closer and you are hoping that no one will pick that player you really want.

Supercoach gold / Pro or whatever it is called has all of this online now.

I tried to buy it from multiple newsagency's 3 years ago, but they had sold out their small stock. Never got my hands on it that year. Since 2010 I have been ordering online. Hassle free, and arrives within a couple of days. I ordered a copy on Wednesday. Hopefully my bible arrives soon

Is this worth the $40 for SC purposes, or is the internet and following the NAB cup/news more than enough?

Does anyone know how the finals system will work now that there is 18 teams per league?? I'm assuming that the bottom 2 wouldn't play in any finals?

From the Help section on the new site:
Rounds 20-23 will comprise of a top 8 finals series, based around the real AFL finals system, to find the overall league premiers. 9th - 16th will also play off for the league's minor premiership. The bottom 2 teams miss out.

fun fact - MFC seem to have the 3rd most expensive team wtf???

maybe due to playing so many players all the time, others have more unplayed rookies funny stuff imo

Mitch Clark chewing up salaray cap again? ;)

P.S. Has anyone found the font and layout hard to read on the Supercoach website?

Looks all squashed up and messy compared to last year or maybe I need to get used to it...

I believe so.

Does anyone know if there's a PDF with every player from every club anywhere? We used to get one every year but it was missing last year...

Hey Guys,
First time player.
Would like some advice as to which structure is best for the most successful teams?
ie: 1 - 12+ ? Premiums and ? rookies or 2- an even spread across the board or any other structure?
Would be interesting to note the structure of the winning entries last season?
Thanks in advance!

HUN release a little black book each year just prior to NAB cup can get it with the paper and pretty sure they release a pdf shortly after.

Decided to play both SC and DT this year but was wondering if I should go with the exact same team for both or are there slight differences I need to be aware of between the two?? ie: is player x better for sc than dt whereas player y is better in dt than sc.

who are the players under $200,000 to consider? I am playing both SC and DT.

I have M Buntine, P. Bower, M Clarke, J Hombsch, J Bootsma, A Morabito, A Sexton, S Coniglio, S Rowe, A Saad and I Folau all in consideration. Have I missed any one or should I exclude any one from my list?
