Almost feels Kyrgios-like. Amazing at his sport, but would rather play for the money rather than ultimate success.

Doesn’t explain the gap between him and Norris though. He just isn’t gelling with that McLaren. Hopefully the 2022 spec clicks with him.

Yeah, that's been a funny one. Daniel has always been at least competitive with if not better than his teammates. Norris is impressive but I wouldn't have put him as that much better if you took the car out of it.

I think it's a combination of the two. I think Norris has grown into that car and McLaren around him. Sainz had similar problem from what you hear. But I think it's definitely in Dan' head now.

He's looked to follow the Hamilton path - jump on the up-and-coming contender, first with Renault, now with McLaren to contend. I think he probably had to leave Red Bull, but what we've seen is that Verstappen is probably the most talented driver in the field and he was never going to outcompete him.

Of course it could all change next year.

Hasn't Dan also said something like his strengths aren't very well suited to the McLaren car. Either way I really hope he finds his groove soon, Not just because i want to see him do well, It would also be nice to see McLaren genuinely in the mix for the constructers

Denmark... making it to the semis after one of their players nearly died on the field...

I'm actually a bit upset to see the fairy tale end.
In this tournament? 😮
Why haven’t I heard about this?

Always a rough way to lose but you do have to question Southgate's tactics for the shootout. Three youngest players to take the last 3 shots. Poor Saha
Baffled at Southgate's use of Grealish too, Jack made a massive impact as soon as he went on and IMO should have taken one of the penalties

I've always hated penalty shoot outs to decide a winner, it would be like taking set shots from 30 meters out straight in front to decide an AFL Grand Final. I'd prefer golden goal extra time and you take a player off the field from each team every 5 minutes until you are down to 6 on 6, eventually someone will score due to fatigue, at least they are playing football to decide the winner.

To be fair England would also have lost that as their midfield-bullying gameplan would not have translated to reduced numbers.

Yer more than likely although IMO England/Southgate were far too defensive the whole tournament, they have talent and didn't use it anywhere near enough eg. Grealish, Foden, Sancho.

Get a more attack minded manager in for the next world cup and play to their strengths.

I never understand waiting so late for subs. Grealish was late but the 119 min is pretty much pointless. May as well give at least 15 mins for fresh legs to run at the defence
