And since that GF they have been pretty much a basketcase.

Even this season has been a bit of a splutter for side expected to finish quite high up on the ladder. It's 50/50 whether they'll make finals this season, but if they do it's because of the NBL rewarding mediocrity by expanding to a final 6 (in a 10 team competition) than form.

Spot on about the crowds though. Three sell-out matches in a row is fantastic to see. Several others close to capacity. The issue is the team seems to be spooked by big crowds, scraping over the line against Brisbane (who are a basketcase this season), and Illawarra (a team worse than Brisbane, which is saying something), and losing to New Zealand.

I wouldn't go so far as a basketcase, but yes definitely no doubt it's a team that has underachieved based on its pedigree.

Doesn't really help that it's pretty much a new squad every year + DJ. Hopefully there's a bit more continuity, at least last season to this season we have retained a few more players and added quality. Time is running out to gel and make a run for the title but I do believe we can peak at the right time, a lot of things have to go right though.

Melbourne Victory handed an incredibly soft penalty for their supporter riot last month.

$550,000 fine and suspended 10 point penalty

I’ve lost count how many suspended point penalty Melbourne Victory have had. Do we have to wait for someone to be killed before a point penalty is enforced.

Been an eventful summer for Kyrgios. Blow up with Lleyton after pulling out of that lead up event (I wonder if they realise how similar they are?) now out of the Australian Open after talking up his chances of winning it yesterday. Always something happening, always in the news. Never dull

Update to the power ranking and the thirty-suckers and Adelaide stinkers drop down dramatically.

36ers still have a high rating because they are the hottest ticket in town but they need to sack Bruton asap. It’s like he’s got too much depth and focusing on giving everyone a crack rather than put out the best side

Do United go up to first? A league seems to have moved on and up from its troubles. Giants are the best performing team but play a sport and league that gets no mention.

Giants reach another Championship Series.

They’ll host games 2 and 3 of the series next weekend against Perth.

Can they finally end SA’s 43 year Claxton Shield drought.

I went a few times as a kid back in the early 90s at Norwood Oval, in the era when there was the Waverley Reds, Daykio Dolphins etc

Haven't been in recent times, but normally follow the scores. Hopefully the Giants can get the job done next week

Less than 100 tickets left for the Giants match tomorrow night. Tomorrow night will probably be the biggest night the Giants/Bite have had at West Beach.

Not overly surprised as the stands have been were packed for the Brisbane/Geelong Korea series’, though surprisingly the crowd was slightly down for the semi final series.
