Honestly can't wait! If I see us call out lobb at 15 I will be extremely disappointed!

Hoping!

15 Acres, Taylor, Dunstan
32 Lobb, Marsh?, JKH, Cripps
35 Cameron conlon, nankervis
44 Tippett
53 fort

Even though we have been linked to Zak Jones and Zac Merrett.
I still hope we would have the smarts to take a Acres, Crouch or even a Sheed.

15: Blake Acres
32: Giles/McStay
35: Jonathan Marsh (Reminds me of Goodes)
44: Jay Kennedy-Harris
53: Chris Cain (If we end up using this pic)

Sheed will be long gone before our first pick. I would like to take Taylor if he slips through the net. Then Marsh & Conlon & Tippett (ready for AFL footy).

Twomey saying we'll pick up Cutler. There's Acres between him and Blake in skill.

Really interesting if this is the case as there isn't even a profile of Cutler on our website. We have plenty of others up there but not him.

I was expecting Robertson to be gone by 32, but of course Cripps might be as well. Why Jansen over Edwards? I think we could use a young rebounding defender to go with all the 189cm 3rd talls back there. From what I've seen Jansen has nothing to elevate him above Lockyer, Rampe, Laidler, Johnson etc.

Have you watched many of Edwards' games? I think he has excellent agility in traffic, good disposal and is at least worth a crack in an AFL environment. Likely available as a rookie if Freo aren't interested.

had another look at Edwards tape, I previously hadn't put much effort into him. Definately something about him, not sure I see him as a defender though. Dual footed, evasive and with quick acceleration - definately warming to him, now all of a sudden I wish we had an earlier pick in the rookie draft....

The profiles on our website are the same profiles used by AFL.com.au in their 30 players in 30 days series. They're essentially just a filler for this interim period in the AFL season where nothing happens. "Football never stops" my ass.

Yes but his profile is on the AFL website. I have viewed his profile there but our team did not upload it to the Swans website. He reminds me of Dre a bit.

The only profiles uploaded to the Swans website are the profiles that are included in the 30 days till the draft. Cutler doesn't feature in that draft countdown - http://www.afl.com.au/2013-draft/draft-countdown
On top of the draft countdown, the AFL has compiled a list of profiles for over 100 potential draftees which Cutler features in. The profiles on the Swans website are not a reflection of who we're considering drafting with our first pick.

Jon Ralph tweeting Garlett didn't show up to an interview with the Hawks and now will not get drafted , interesting if true

He idolises Franklin and Goodes.

B Anderson updated draft is saying its between Cutler and Merrett at 15 , take what you want from that

Well according to Knightmare

--------------------------------------------
#15 Sydney – Zac Merrett (VIC – Util)
Height: 178cm, Weight: 73kg, DOB: 3/10/1995
Recruited from: Sandringham Dragons
Style: Lindsay Gilbee
Player comparison:
Range: 15-45
Profile: Merrett is one of the elite users of the footy in this draft. He’s a guy you want the ball in the hands of because with ball in hand he just does big damage kicking it to where his target wants it and executing every time as that real playmaker who can make others look. Good user by foot on both sides. Has some versatility. He’s a good tackler for an outside player but being that outside player he struggles to win his own footy and instead relies on that ball outside the contest to thrive and influence games. This is the first year Merrett has really focused in on his footy and considering he’s already playing so well there is some upside there.

#20 Gold Coast (Activated Compensation) - Tom Cutler (VIC –Mid/Def)
Height: 190cm, Weight: 86kg, DOB: 20/02/1995
Recruited from: Oakleigh Chargers
Style:
Player comparison:
Range: 15-50
Profile: Cutler is a tall midfielder/ backman who has missed this season with injury. Cutler’s point of different is his footskills which are excellent with his ability to hit targets over a variety of ranges and do damage. Cutler has shown that he can push forward when required and take a mark and impact on the scoreboard but then also push back and take an intercept mark, so he has some versatility. Athletically Cutler is also above average at his size and moves well and can at times take on the game reasonable well. He’s also shown down back that he has good closing speed. Just having not seen Cutler this year it’s unclear as to exactly where he’s at.
--------------------------------------------------------

So while being different sorts of players they both have one thing in common and that is elite kicking skills.

Every year the club always seem to seem to draft a reasonable quantity of either a small 179-181cm flanker or a 188-191cm flanker who might be pushing uphill to play 3rd tall at either end.

Of the couple players we are being linked with at 15:

Merrett is the sort of player who will probably go in the 20's if we don't take him at 15, but there's a sneaky chance he could slide through to a pick 32/35. Even though he does fill a need and would be a nice pick up, pick 15 might be jumping the gun on him too early, take a gamble and see if he slides through and see if he can be picked up as a 'bargain' pick later. Not the very worst choice though, but there are probably better rated at 15 (especially looking at some of the potential sliders).

Cutler, don't know much about, but on face value also certainly doesn't appear to be best available at 15, however he's probably a much better choice than some of our other first round attempts over the years, so meh, could probably live with this decision, until Captain Hindsight makes an appearance anyway.

I don't care too much who we pick at 15, even if we do over pay a bit, just for the love of god get someone who can at least go on to become a solid/decent best 22 contributor in the future. Should also keep in mind whoever they do take here may have to become one of our more immediate depth players next year. Can definitely see a situation though where we pass a Acres and/or Jones type, who then get drafted to a Geelong or Fremantle and go on to become gun/s.

Also really want to see them fill needs with the later picks - meaning at least one big defender and a developing ruck (just having Naismith and Derickx as back doesn't sit/bode well. I know next year is rated as a better KP draft but you never know what can happen, certainly couldn't hurt to get some developing ones onto our list this year
Would be disappointed if we come away with another 4 flanker types mentioned in the first paragraph, god knows we have plenty of them already.

I have often cringed at all the Garlett love on this board....but I just wonder if with Goodes, Jetta and Franklin around he might be worth a stab at our LAST pick.

Could even get him with a rookie pick and if he stuffs up **** him off

Watch one of his WAFL games this year, I can suggest a couple if you like.
