Being concerned about your looks and about fashion makes you vain and dull, and is completely contradictory to the argument you've been making here (but I'm sure you knew that already ;)).
Actually, there is nothing wrong with being concerned about fashion, it is a legitimate art like any other art form! It is very creative. People can't help being concerned about their looks either, it is just that some people actually try to look their best, whilst others just give up and do nothing because they have low self-esteem or something.

Can't think of any Gen Y bands I like, unless The Panics are Gen Y.

They're probably borderline Gen X/Gen Y.

Great band though, that play music older than their years.

Majority of my favourite bands would be Gen X bands from the 90s era like Tool, Radiohead, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Smashing Pumpkins, Oasis, Blur, You Am I and RHCP.

There just aren't those types of quality bands around these days.

RHCP are all like 60, they aren't Gen X. If you count them, then I get to count Muse as Gen Y! Our generation hasn't had very long to make music, but we already have: Yeasayer, Muse*, Lorde, Skrillex, The Naked and Famous, and Lady Gaga. Way better than those crappy bands you listed, except for Tool who actually make some decent songs.

Football = a team game.

At least it did until Gen Y came along. Now it's all me, me, me.

Ah yes, but thanks to economic liberals like I mentioned earlier, even different members of the same team are effectively competing for the same rewards.

Its all about numero uno.

According to Wiki Gen X is from the early 60s to the early 80s.so the RHCP guys are included.

Most of those bands you listed are terrible, Muse are OK but they're probably Gen Xers.

Of course there is something wrong with it you self absorbed vacuous dick head. It is not a legitimate art form - it's called being vain and a victim of marketing. It is for the simpletons of the world. You are like one of the greek boys from history that was "valued" for their beauty but really those in power just liked a tight arse. You'll be clapped out and useless in your mid 30's as your beauty fades and your sphincter loses elasticity.

I hope thats the reaction you were seeking.

You probably remember though when Advance Australia Fair became the national anthem and was on the back of all the milk cartons to teach the kids.
Can't say I do, must've been before my time.

Worst and most innapropriate song at school assembly?

My ex-missus had an overbearing headmistress at Sydney PLC (girls school) that chose every assembly from the school song book to sing "I Will Never Marry".

I Will Never Marry

One morning as I rambled...
All down the sea shore
The wind, it did whistle
and the waters did roar.

I heard a fair damsel
make a beautiful sound,
it sounded so lonesome
In the waters around.

I never will marry
Nor be no man's wife.
I expect to stay single
All the days of my life.

The shells in the ocean
Shall be my death bed
The fish in deep waters
Swim over my head.

She plunged her fair body
in the waters so deep
She closed her blue eyes
In the waters too sweet.

My love's gone and left me
The one I adore,
She's gone and I never
Will see her anymore.

Chorus:
I never will marry
Nor be no man's wife.
I expect to stay single
all the days of my life.

The shells in the ocean
Shall be my death bed
The fish in deep waters
Swim over my head.

She was a proud spinster (read lesbian).
Lyrics are still better than the 3rd rate schmaltzy crap we had to sing, but yeah bit inappropriate I'll say. Hot lesbians are unassailably cool though. (shame 99% seem to be fat & ugly)

You're one of those embarrassing hipster types aren't you?

and whats with their taste in music ?
Their grandads showed them the good stuff, then their dads did too....but they end up idolising black chicks with big arses and fairy queen tweens with ****ta haircuts.

That never happened in my family!

That was one of the most horrible things I have ever read, full of false assumptions and homophobic bigotry. Even Bosk would blush upon reading such hateful filth. I am so glad that kind of hate will largely die out with the last dinosaurs of your generation.

Wow... thought I could be brutal at times. You're not holding back in this thread TMB!

I know some do consider fashion a legitimate art form (I'm not one). Though my point is that it is horrendously over-valued as one, and basically just an excuse for narcissism.

As for being concerned with appearance, as I said, your talk on that contradicts your earlier comment about people in Gen Y being more thoughtful and less self-absorbed. Spending extensive time on your appearance reflects low self-esteem more than anything else.

RHCP aren't 60, and fit within the Gen X bracket.

Also, that list you compiled is frankly embarrassing. Muse and Lady Gaga? For all your BS, you know nothing of art. Now run along and be a reverse troll for another generation please.

You're floating dangerously close to a threadban. Clearly letting you back on the bay was a mistake.

Yeah, ban the victim of bigotry, not the bigot who launched a tirade of hate and broke several bigfooty rules in the process :thumbsu: Do whatever you have to do Fyfie, I am sick of all your threats already

Fashion is an art form that masquerades it's lack of substance with arrogance and snobbery.
It's vacuous because it's insecure.......no wonder Gen Y are being drawn to it in record numbers

I don't get "fashion" but I'm unfashionable.

Is it really any dumber though than watching 40 blokes chase a leather ball around for hours?
